Penguin Softball History

In 1980, the program began under Bill Wolf. There have been six coaches in school history, including current coach Brian Campbell. Under Campbell, the program has been successful in recent history, going from winning just eight games in his first year in 2009, Campbell led the Penguins to 29 victories in 2012. The school-record is 36 victories in 2003.

In seven seasons of Mid-Con play, YSU had 25 all-conference first or second-team selections. YSU won the Horizon League Tournament earning the school's first-ever NCAA bid in 2006.
