YSU Penguin Athletics / Re: Najee Tyler

Why I never put too much emphasis on the whole star system for recruiting.  Guy's like Eric Decker at Minnesota who had one division one offer and blow up then you have guy's who just don't live up to the hype.  Remember Sentreal Henderson was supposed to be the greatest lineman ever, spurned USC and flirted with Ohio State before landing with the Canes....I seldom hear his name.

I'm not so sure there is a Georgia Tech offer.  Agree that there should be no chance if GT has offered.  Haven't seen anything to indicate they've offered.

right on, sometimes "interest" get's confused for "offers" in this social media world we live in.

under the radar type who will garner some attention during his senior year.  Slocum, with the help of his staff has really been doing a fine job putting together solid and legit D.1 classes.

Already playing in a wooden bat league. Very impressive for a small school player. That usually only happens when the pros think they need a look.
ummm, Youngstown Class B is wood bat, most summer leagues are heading that direction.

Good call Indy, we will see guy's who are pushing to be the "weekday" starters for when conference season starts.  Those weekday starters for teams however are the ones that end up carrying the teams during the end of most conference tournaments.

Aldridge is possibly going to end up with an ACC (Notre Dame) offer before it's all said and done.  Not to sound like a hater, but this is one of those situations where the kid is going to be able to go on to bigger better things.  Hope I'm wrong...but...5% chance maybe?

This guy over at the Minnesota Gophers fan site does a great job updating Non Conference Schedules as they get released, with some nice info on them.  It's a running thread and a nice way to piece together some schedules.  So far, YSU has only appeared on one, and that  is Kent States.  Worth a look for my fellow College Hoop Junkies.

1-AA, you're sadly mistaken (again) if you think this team has talent to win this league. Dosch is the only everyday player who would smell the field for Milwaukee and this team has NO pitching whatsoever. Of the two starters who started the tournament games, O'Brien is a journeyman at best and Aquadro is a batting practice pitcher. This team needs a complete overhaul. This season was a disaster, specifically the last month. Non-competitive.

Right on.  This is why I gladly froze my butt off at Cene the last two days than go up to Eastwood.

don't worry.  a verbal is more solid in basketball than in football and guys giving a verbal and not signing right away is pretty common in hoops.  He's got till May 15th.

YSU Penguin Athletics / Smoke Williamson coaching at Umass

Not sure if anyone knew this or not, but former guard Marlon Smoke Williamson is on staff at umass.  Found a nice article on him from this past summer: http://www.masslive.com/umassbasketball/index.ssf/2012/08/new_umass_basketball_assistant.html

Rick Loves gets to walk around with a smile on his face when a) students show up for a tv game, and b) kent state's, akron's, or cleveland state's name and fans help draw a crowd.  This guy seems clueless to me but it is what it is.

Why the hell are people complaining about some more basketball for this team.  I for one am excited for another men's game at Beeghly Center.  My 11 month old daughter enjoys the hoops games :) She's becoming a chip off the hold block.

I don't see any reason YSU can't empty the bench down the stretch in this one on Friday Night.  This just feel's like it has the making of one of those seasons where you think this team can win everytime out, home or on the road.  Still not buying into the UWGB hype machine...I think this is a three team league between Valpo, Detroit, and our Penguins.  I would put Loyola ahead of UWGB when it's all said and done and I feel Cleveland State will scuffle.

I'm interested to see how Valpo looks today vs a bottom-feeder, but yet what should be a well coached Big Ten team today in Nebraska.
