This evening, Youngstown State sealed another Metro Detroit commitment who adds athleticism with a tenacious scoring ability. Oak Park's 6'2" 2014 shooting guard JaChristian Biles is an under the radar athlete/scorer who stood out this past July at the Adidas Summer Invitational with Dorian's Pride 17u.
He's an agressive one on one scorer from the perimeter, mid-range, and a dynamic above the rim player. Biles has an explosive first step who can get to the rim efficiently which is set up by his mid range and perimeter pull up jumper.
The Oak Park star isn't as much of a late bloomer, rather a player who has had to play behind a high scorer at Southfield-Lathrup and current Toledo freshman, Jon-Jon Williams. Biles transferred to nearby Oak Park his junior year and is a reason why they are a top ten preseason Class A team. The Knights' new high school coach, Bryant Tipton, says, "His hard work and instant offense gives us what we need to win."
Biles took an official visit to Youngstown State on the weekend of September 21-22 and has been a standout in the August and September Michigan Elite 25 events hosted by Tim McCormick. He was also one of the top performers at the Inside Prep Sports' Fall Showcase this past September...notes here.
Biles is the #12 rated player in Michigan's 2014 class and the #3 shooting guard...rankings here.
Biles is third Metro Detroit player, following current freshman Kyle Steward and Jalon Plummer, recruited by YSU assistant and Detroit native Steve Hall.
