Penguin power you are 100 % wrong,  Calhoun has. Brought total excitement  to the basketball program.  They were filling up the bleachers and there was a buzz for the team,  We are winning  plus he plays COACHES  AN exciting style of play.

The fans back a winner in Youngstown it doesn’t matter what the sport.  Even the junior hockey team sold out during the playoffs and the won the championship.

I feel it seems the football program  generates  very little interest  even I have lost interest.  How long are we going to live off the  90’s .    It’s time to clean house get new blood from the athletic  dept, the marketing  dept, and even clean up the sidelines on the hangers ion from that area  Penguin club.   Other than the Tressel era and a  run in the 70.$. Football has been mediocre.

There goes the playoffs!

Fire Strollo Fire Phillips

No need to mention strolllo here. This one is all on Tressel. Do you want to bring him back and then fire him? Lol.

You can blame Strollo for running the program into the ground. Phillips is doing a fine job considering the starting point. Because the program now doesn't have the money to pay for the best, you have to endure a learning curve.  Deal with it.  He will be a great long term coach that brings stability to our football program.

Unfortunately we play in a conference that's just completely brutal and is so good it actually downgrades the rest of the B1G because the MVFC steals those players.

We are far more improved, but we are missing that explosive player on both sides of the ball.  Need to upgrade the DL and the secondary coaching

You hit it in the nose I said beginning of the year we don’t have a legit homerun hitter on offense.  We have a few good ones  but we don’t have  that special sauce player.

But the game management hurt us tonight.  Coaching wasn’t used those last few minutes.  We had timeouts use them Coach dammit.

I said all along as long as we are in this conference we will struggle to be in the top 3.
I stand by what I say
Nothing makes me puke more than hearing well we play in the toughest league, blah blah blah.

There’s no flag or trophy  for finishing  4th or 5th every year.

The fans are tired of it and honestly a lot of the diehards are as well.
We keep making excuses for Phillips but what’s scary here is.
He hasnt recruited 1 good offensive skill player since he’s been here!  He had a couple of. Good transfers and a steal with the Rb we had last year.
King is ok
But his HS recruits at the rb and QB?
Defensively we have transfer LB that’s decent and 1 Lineman
We still have too many penalties.  Nothing really has changed much
Like someone said. 6-5. Or 7-4 that’s what is.
We still dont have any identity either.

Agree with  a few other posters.  Poor game management on our last drive.  Plus that false start by the senior tackle was a killer as well.

What made it even worse was we played in prevent it looks like we rushed 3 guys on the last 2 plays I think on  interference call we did. Plus i knew they were going back to the same area to set up for fg.  Poor coaching there and i almost forgot didn’t we go for it at mid field in the first qtr and we lost field position if we punted and u think  that played in their first score For SD.

This is 2 games we blew now on the road.  We need to win out now or stick a fork in it for any chance of the olayoffs.   The better coach win today.  Their coach won 2 D2 championships and it showed today.  Ours coached like he was still coaching the Salem Quakers

Still watching the game got home and game stsrted haven’t read comments of game thread.  But I’m impressed with graphics different stat graphics and with their crew of announcers .  Puts our production as very mediocre  and honestly our crew is boring.  YSU used to have a hell of a media center back in the day.  But it’s pretty bare bones on production now.  We always talk we are an elite program but  we are far from it these dsys

We won against them the last 2 times right?  Last one was a blow out? Should be a win nothing less

They got a bunch of transfers.  They have several Ohio and Florida kids now on their roster.

So what  if this team is better and deeper as per some of your assessment shouldn’t be a big deal.

Should be a win.  No excuses

When you look at the players getting honors across the FCS, we don't really have much in the way of those awards.  Makes me think that we really play as team a d the success is shared for whoever can take it.  It think this will be a tough game.  That's why they are played.

However,  what I was eluding to is.......how did we let Ohio kids escape? Why don't we go after more FL kids too?
It seems we aren’t really recruiting any Florida kids anymore.  Don’t like that.  As for the Ohio kids  that’s on Coach P to close the deal.

Heacock was saved by a guy called  Marcus Mason.
Wolford would still be here if we had better Asst coaches.
Pelini was saved by the catch, and a guy named Hunte.
Phillips knew the vest and had $$$ behind him.
Schedule is in our favor this year without the Bison.  No excuse

The failure here for all is the AD never found a way to secure more money for the coaches.
So we got what we paid for garbage in garbage out.

SIU was so not a top 5 team.  As soon as they lined up against us especially on D they looked small.  They made no adjustments on offense.  Good Win but means nothing if we keep loosing to the Dakotas.

The schedule is watered down enough no N Dakotas that we can make playoffs!  I think Murray St is the last game.  Probably be the game to play in for us for a playoff game.

That being said, the loss of Jaheel has hurt the offense, especially in the passing game, because everybody was out to stop him that made Davidson opportunities in the passing game. Yes, number 10 a good running back, but nothing close to Jaleel so now are passing game times is struggling

After Ohio State game. I did see some improvement.  But the pass rush and defensive backfield isn’t where it should be the experts on here saw differently.

Not getting a field goal in the second half hurt us but lack
Of converting our third downs before the garbage time touchdowns was a big factor. If we lose another two games, it’s time to look at Brungard to see if he’s the guy at quarterback football is about the quarterback And until we get division one quarterback, we have to coach, and play perfectly to win games.
I do think Phillips needs to recruit locally but to get true better depth it’s time to get kids that are D1.  How many attendance still sucks even with the local recruiting enough already

Not watching the  game I guess  someone said Brungard is receiving Punta.  First pretty stupid if he is QB2.  Unless he’s not the QB of thd future.

Guess it helps being a legacy player and the HC having ties to Springfield HS and Salem lol!  YSU will never grow up.

We all know Heacock hated these games.

Yes our talent is much better and we will know how much better when we open league play against Nortbern Iowa.

We were outgained 464 to 234.  12 first downs to 23.  We ran the clock to at least 10 seconds to keep them off the field.  The new rules now the NCAA runs the clock to thd findl 2 mins of the half instead of stopping the clock at every first down.  So yes the score could have bern worse but again it wax obvious The Buckeyes were working on different situations with their offense.  As for thd rb King.  He’s no Webb Mason or Jaleel.  But he again I saw a lot of good things I think Tomzak a x the other WR The will help us because other teams will try to double Oliver.
After we got down by 21 we went really conservative and werent really trying to score.  What were your guys thoughts on Brungard.

Guess I see this game completely different.  It was fairly obvious if Ohio St could have scored more if they wanted
We had no answer for Harrison.
Henderson could have had a bigger hand to if he was allowed.
That being said we played hard. My concern is we don’t have a player that can hit the home run on offense.
We have s good punter.  Still think our offensive  coordinator is below average.
I think we got out without any major injuries.
And yes we scored a td.  So that gives Philips a heads up on Heacock in money games!
I feel if we dont lose to who we not supposed to.  Playoffs can be realistic
