I would not equate cross country or track and field with MBB or even WBB.  Just making it into the Dance would be a public relations bonanza for the University.  MBB is the second most revenue generating sport, and to let it atrophy is fiscal malpractice.  IMO being HL champs of an Olympic sport, or several Olympic sports, but neglect MBB is absurd.

WBB is 64-54 under Barnes.  Not great, but tolerable...barely.

But ol' sweet Geri Slocum....record at YSU is 139-224....horrific, but not as pathetic as his HL record, which is 62-136.  One....one winning HL record in 12 years....and he barely had that w/ a 10-8 record in 2011. I'm not surprised he's tenured at No Accountability U.  If I recall correctly, the annual MBB budget is $1.3M.  In the city of Ytown, is there a more irresponsible use of $1.3M?  Honestly, moRon would chose Geri's replacement, so Geri would be replaced with a Slocum/Hill/Martin equivalent so he may as well stay.

If it's ranked 20t, the Horizon league is not above our heads.  We just need a coach who can players in the program and provide some continuity.  Our top players or prospective top players leaving every year is not going to cut it.   How may we lose every year ?  Three or four?

We only lost Jordan Andrews this year.  A non-related basketball incident happened with Sidney Umude this summer.  Not sure his status for the future.  It was a shame to lose him.

YSU men's basketball is a non factor in our community.  The program is dead.  Need new life, and new coach.  As for the Horizon League, it is now one of the weakest in Division 1, the day Butler left, the league took a hit.

One of the few leagues that will be under no consideration for two NCAA berths.  The right coach here could begin turning this program around and get us quickly into the top 4 in the league.  When Slocum was not fired last year, and yes, it was President Tressel who save his job.  All the Strollo bashing(he deserves most of it)on here, but he wanted to fire Slocum.  That was a clear message YSU neither cares or has the desire to invest money  into  men's basketball.

Shaun Stewart

Osandi Vaughn

Ronnye Beamon

Jalon Plummer

Kyle Steward

Ryan Weber

Marcus Keene

Sidney Umude

Jordan Andrews

Bryce Nickels

All gone from the program in the last 3 years. YSU admins wont get rid of Jerry because they are happy paying him the least out of any coach in the HL so they're getting what they want... Terrible coach, players leaving the program every year. Losing seasons. Why anyone would want to come play for this dumpster fire of a program is beyond me.

Simply horrible basketball. They are getting worse as usual as the season goes along. They always get worse as the season goes along with Jerry Slocum

We are trapped inside a vicious circle.  The team plays poorly at home because the gym is empty and the atmosphere is terrible.  Yet nobody will come to the games until they start winning at home on a consistent basis.  The shame is, as since1990 noted earlier in this thread, a real coach could actually turn this around quickly in this deteriorating league.

Told you they wound not show up against Oakland.  They'll get smoked by Detroit too!  Getting worse as the season progresses.  Look good one game, bad the next two!!! Again what happened to all the defense they practiced all pre-season!

Chief,

The perfect candidate and within our budget.  But good luck trying to explain that to this athletic administration.

Why do you guys keep bringing him up? He is a career assistant. We have more qualified on staff now.

This team is a complete joke and so is a program. Can't even win games at home. No wonder fans don't show up yet the mindset of some of you is to keep the coach or even the assistants are qualified to be a head coach. Take the blinders off and realize this programs one of the worst in America
