YSU Penguin Athletics / Re: YSU defensive coordinator leaves
« on: February 03, 2012, 10:28:07 PM »
heard Vince Kehres (Larry Kehres is the HC, is son vince is the DC) is a canidate from Mount Union
would be absolutley shocked if he left

If I'm not mistaken the "younger Kehres" left Mount for another D3 a year or two ago. To spread his wings a little. Mount Union is his final "destination location if he is smart". Why give up a gauranteed 15 year job....for a hell packed 2-3 gig at YSU?

you are 100% Mistaken
been at Mount Union his entire coaching career

Thanks. I wasn't sure. Maybe it was someone else on the staff...maybe not.

No matter, Kehres SR.....has found the "goldmine" or the "fountain of youth"....or strategy, to attract D1 and D2 level players to a D3 school.

Master salesmanship along with the great football coaching.

Let's face it. Alliance is not a "destination location". It ain't LA or Miami. They are doing sooooo many things right there.

Good for them.

On the high school boards, there are accusations that Teague stole at Ursuline but the coaches gave him a "second chance."  No thank you.  We are already holding our breath on one recruit.  This is another Turner situation.  Forget him.

Waiting for the Diocese to really start looking at what is going on at Ursuline. This is 3rd/4th kid in the last 3-4 years who has had major legal "issues". Not just a single incident. A trend is developing there.

Not sure there is room here for him. We still have jordan, adaris and then hymes at RB. I guess he could play slot reciever and kick returner. Everyone deserves a 2nd chance. He is a good kid, not sure how this happened. Reardon was like a father to him

Do we know that he is a "good kid"? He's an admitted thief !!

Not sure how it happened....? It happened because he decided to walk into an unlocked room of fellow students and "stole" their stuff.

Did the local Youngstown media report this incident? Or were they still busy covering the Mooney cigar thing (for 3 months every night ?...LOL

2 local stars who did not sign anywhere. Jesse Curry from Ursuline and Dayne Hammond from Boardman

Curry was a heck of a player. Maybe a bit short for LB at D1. Hammond, needs to get his act together, but heard he is a good kid who is maturing.

......gets kicked off the Cinci Bearcats football team, do we have a scholly for him? Do we want him? Maybe he sits out a year gets his head together and is given a second chance by Wolf, himself an Ursuline guy. Should be an interesting story to follow.

LOL....so his plan was to be soooooo great at the 1-AA level as a transfer freshman (where he already screwed up once)......not go to class, knowing you'd flunk out.......and he was still hoping to get "drafted" by the NFL ?

Yea, that's a great plan.

Where did he go to High School???

Brilliant!!! Genius!!!!

The rest of the "Stephen Hawking" nominees for "The brilliant minds award".......are breathing just a little easier tonight, knowing that Davion is no longer in the running.

Maybe the guy who is coaching the "girls" team, should be coaching the "guys" !!!
The girls are 9-11 and the guys are 11-9. What kind of logic would support your statement?

The girls won 2 or 3 games "total" over the last 5 years (or something like that). Bolden came in and is winning. Turned that group around. 9 wins compared to Zero...that's my logic....though it may be flawed. Our mens' coach has hovered around average, and is basically staying there....despite earning 6X what Bolden makes.

I don't know much about BB. But i can interpret wins and losses.

Jameel Smith.....just spoke to a friend of mine who coaches in Ft. Lauderdale....does not understand how this kid got out of the state...great job Wolf..!!...

We could see him in the return game...needs to put on some muscle...the kid is long...covers some ground...good football instincts...and can lay the wood..!!...

Wolf can recruit!!! He needs another year or two... he can recruit. And that's what he was brought in here to do.

And he is doing it well. And we need to give him his time. If he continues this....good things will be happening at YSU football.

Gotta win. And win BIG.....NOW!!!

And that's probably a good thing for everyone involved.

Wolf has this program "humming"...it's exciting to be a football player at YSU right now. (6am workouts in the snow.....excluded..!!)

you are seeing more and more undersized wide out / slot type guys in the offenses in this day and age..(Welker...A Brown)...weather it be pro...or college level...these guys are able to get in and out of breaks much quicker then the taller receivers...and are being used as underneath...and flat type receivers, having to make 1 guy miss and pick up 8 to 10 yards a crack...

these guys fit very well in the offense Mont / Wolf are trying to run...

Agreed. And I hope you are right. :)

Alabama, ran 2 TE's and an "I" formation. But yes, I understand they are Alabama. LSU did too. And Southern Cal before them....and TOSU before that. The common denominator there.....ydou ask?

National Championships!!!!!!!!.......over a DECADE.

Not arguing, just food for thought. The scale will tip the other way eventually......get there early.

« on: January 24, 2012, 11:32:28 PM »
Last i heard he was still in there because of too much protein in his blood. Nothing too serious

Live and learn.....have never heard of having "too much" protein in your blood. Maybe kidneys failing....from a mixture of things....The liver can have issues after 40 years of "not right living". But he's a good young man.

This is how rumors are started. Berrasa is a good kid. Wish him a speedy recovery.
