Where is our donation?

I'm sure Mr. Strollo and his staff are "all over" this info and will use it to assist in marketing the game and getting a small "token" donation from the Puskar family "riches". I'm sure that donation to YSU was a simple oversight by them over the last 40 years. :D

Tough game. You don't just walk into Milan Puskar Stadium and steal a game from the Mountaineers...:)

It appears WVU's Stadiums namesake graduated from YSU.......who would have guessed?

Congratulations to Bobby and let's not forget the Olympic Strength and Conditioning department who were massive in his development over the last 4 years. Brian Sklenar and Willie Danzer provided Grace and Neu with the most complex program one could imagine. These coaches could coach at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs. They have that much knowledge.

Their training programs' results speak volumes..........all our "throwers" got exponentially better.

Breaking News!  This might be BIG!

Three unions on campus, INCLUDING the faculty, have just endorse Tressel for president.  On Monday, Tressel stated that the faculty would be a crucial determinant if by some chance both schools selected him. Well....!

Breaking News......!!!!

Unions get something right for change.. ;D ;D ;)

IMHO....Tressel is the best choice for either school. What all colleges, universities.....heck..any instituion (public or private) needs is a leader. A winner!!!

The academic credential argument is nonsense. All organizations are best run thru sound leadership and practical business protocols. The idea is to win. In every arena.

The business of America....(Rodney Dangerfield movie "Back to School") .....is business. As silly and as simple as that sounds.....those of us who create jobs....to pay taxes...and keep big institutions afloat.......understand this.

Fairness is in the opportunity.......not the outcome.

YSU Penguin Athletics / Re: Tennessee RB Alden Hill plans to transfer
« on: April 23, 2014, 11:28:09 PM »
To add insult to injury, Tennesse recruited 3 (THREE) RBs in this  years class and moved a WR over to tailback. Was the Ohio D-III Player of the year as a Jr. but didn't win it as a Sr.  I note Marlington played Poland his senior year and they held him to 70 some yards. I'd be surprised if he came here. Frankly, YSU has several very good RBs that are extremely effective. Can't see Hill adding much here.

Paladin has been getting "crushed" by some members of our community (on this forum).
But on this Alden Hill topic....he is 2 for 2 on his posts.

I saw this kid twice in person and twice on TV. Got a lot of "ink" from local/regional media. Big/fast/strong..they said. Against Poland he got stuffed. Showed me nothing against a decent D3/D4 Poland.
Got blasted in the 1 or 2 playoffs games Marlington played in during his 4 years there.

He played on a "decent" HS D4 team...which played in a bad league. Did OK..but was exposed against better competition. Got crushed against the best in the Division.

Would have been 2nd team on Ursuline/Mooney..St. Ignatius...Moeller...etc. Not because of physical ability.....just not a tough enough player.

5 yard gains for a D1 HS running back ..turned into 85 yard TD runs by Hill because he played against a bunch of slow 5'6" defensive Lb's and 5'4" Db's from a bad league.

Well so much for my theory. LOL......I hope they decide on him. And I hope he picks YSU.

And Scarlett.....fundraising is "selling". And selling is business. We need business folks running things in this country. Not administrators.

Akron is another fresh start for him. A good choice. The next step for him. Moving back to Youngstown brings the news media back writing the "story" about (rumored) scandal at YSU ( Monus) and the OSU debacle. He doesn't need that.

Love the guy. He'll do well at Akron. A more vibrant city than Y-town currently.

In football, you need a solid 44 players (2 deep) out of (85 scholarships).

In basketball, you need 2-3 really good players.

Why is finding and coaching these  creatures so difficult?

Maturity on this staff has been greatly improved. Stoops now has colleagues who bring gravitas.

We are reaching for talent. We look at how fast they can run and look at very little else.
Got a bunch of very fast guys who can't read a pulling guard, who can't make calls before the snap of the ball, who can't stay in their gap/s....who basically can only run.

Stupid guys who aren't football players .... ;)  :o......and make lots of noise in the huddle (false/misguided intimidation) :(. Lots of barking, while making stupid decisions on and off the field.

Zordich coming in is huge!

His football schemes / relationship with Stoops will get the back 7 playing exponentially better.

He and Stoops... class dudes. Know the game.
