No lol. What a stinker of a job.
I agree.  Nebraska money, FCS small town pressure, great combination for life of Nebraska contract.
If he moves it will be to a P5 program that is currently having success.  No 2-10 rebuilding jobs with alumni calling for your head after the second loss of your second season.  BUT he will need to win some big games and get in the playoffs for balance of YSU years or he will be forgotten.

Yeah but not just any P5 job Go, a good P5 job. He was offered the Maryland job last year and didnt want it.
Last year was first out of Nebraska and who knows, all these are anonymous reports.  Who knows what and if Maryland offered?   I don’t think the ACC guys want to be Big10 anyway.  IMO this is a marginal job at best.  Not as bad a Big10 pick up as Rutgers, but close.

I suppose that is the best we could hope for: 2-7  3 yards & 1 int passing, 4 rushes for -4 yds. Davis over 3-6 25 yards & 1 int passing, 6 rush for 16 yds (11 on one play) Mays.
Pretty pitiful when you look at it, isn't it?
The secret to our lack of success is these "running QB's" is they don't run very well.  We are comparing them to Wells, and sure they are better than Hunter, but so am I.  The only guy with significant running talent was Hosick and he's done.
I went back and watched Nate May's HUDL highlights for 2014 and 2013 and saw a LOT of very slow developing plays with defensive breakdowns that led to long runs or long, floating passes to wide open receivers.  Played against very weak competition.  If anybody wants links, let me know, very interesting
Go back 2 years from now when Wells was a freshman getting his first start.  He looked FAR better than either Davis or Mays starting their careers.  Looks to me like we are in deep do-do.

I agree Go Guins..The protection has been good and the receiver's have been getting open. When we make a good read were not accurate. If we continue to struggle like this in the passing game defense's will find creative ways to put a end to those long sustained drives
They won't have to be too creative.  We only averaged 3.7 per rush against UNI and worse on pass plays, so you take a safety and put him in the box and shadow the QB as stop the read options and we're as good as toast.  Unless you fine a way to hit a TE up the seam a couple times and make them play straight up, they've got us. Something we have done about -0- all season.

I have no idea what games you guys are attending, but at the YSU games our QB play this year is terrible.  NONE OF THE 3 HAS DONE MUCH.  Saturday was all OL and D.  NONE of the 3 QBs did squat. (unless you count INT's)  UNI had more yards on INT RETURNS than we had in passing yards!!  The Mays story is a good story, and everybody, including me, wants him to be good, but you saw NOTHING from him in terms of QB play that would be encouraging.  One low and outside pass for a 1st down in the 22 play drive and some of you guys write like New England should trade Brady for his draft rights?
Truthfully if we play this Saturday like we did last Saturday, it could be 24-3 or something.  Remember, for all the drive and rushing effort, we were less than 4 yards a carry for the game, and 28 yards passing.  You won't beat S or N DSU without a QB.

I don't think Wells is any string.  He was wearing street clothes as I understand.  My guess is he doesn't want to burn a year of eligibility, will red shirt this year, and transfer after this season.

After watching Mays, I feel good about the QB situation for years to come.

Maybe on Wells, and Mays hung in and played tough, but he didn't show anything as a passer and little as a runner.  Not sure what you were watching Saturday, but QB play was awful ALL NIGHT.

One thing that hampers the pass game is the QB isn't getting any help from the receivers.  We need some separation and somebody to “go get the ball” once in a while.

We are also going to need to shorten up the routes.  The INT's on Saturday were late and long across the middle.  Need to be shorter and quicker.  Hard for a kid, but otherwise you get ints.

We had a drive (with our 3rd string QB no less) lasting 11:40, starting at the YSU14, and running 22 plays, driving   86 yards for a TD.  In case you are wondering like I was if that was the longest drive in college FB history, it wasn't, but it wasn't far off.

Great drive, and the final one too, 10 straight running plays for winning TD! 43 second half rushes to their 31 for the whole game.
And in fairness, I do want to point out:
Davis, Hosick, Wells, Mays = 4th string QB..

That corporate stuff is just part of corporate America, not football.  They're not "fans," but more like leaches.  The worst I've ever seen is OSU.  Last time I left a tailgate party there, I thought I was the ONLY guy going to the game.  Yes, the stadium is full, but the tailgates are still packed too!  Bet you they have more fans outside around the stadium during a game than we have inside during ours!

well with 3-picks and that speed, they earned a right to argue. We never tested their back-half. I counted 6 questionable hits on our QB's. Only 1 was called. That first one on Mays was terrible. The kid was already nervous and he was not looking.

I obviously agree on the cheap hits by UNI, but as far as D is concerned.  If you give up two TD's to loose a game on 30 running plays and only 2 passes, you don't claim anything except exhaustion!  We rushed 43 times in the SECOND HALF.  They had 31 for the game.  You got beat up on both sided of the ball.  UNI, you can claim -0- as far as better D!

1767
Way too many stayed in the lots this time. I bet it was well over 1k. I guess that is normal considering both lost were packed.
How can you see how many are in the tailgate lots if you're not?

thanks David, was he the one with the ankle? Maybe I have the wrong person, as it looked pretty bad when he was coming off.
I think it was Townsend coming off with the really bad looking ankle, skipping with -0- weight on the bad leg.  Then shortly after he had another terrific return setting up with winning TB (after the 4 roughing calls!)

That Montana team in 94 was bad  >:( One Montana player even took a piss in the end zone after the game  ???
Guess we don't exactly agree on "dirty" vs. "disrespectful".  Going at a QB's head is over the top, and can't be allowed.  Pissing in the end zone is certainly disrespectful, but nobody is going to get hurt (unless he is careless with his zipper!)

I'm not certain any of our QB injuries were on running plays.  Truth is, QB's are more vulnerable when passing.  Injuries are just part of the game.
