Penguins Earn Impressive 6-1 Win Over UIC

The victory improves the Penguins to 9-8 overall and 2-2 in the Horizon League. UIC falls to 5-13, 1-4 on the year.
YSU built a 1-0 lead by taking two of three doubles matches.
In singles play, the Guins won three matches in straight sets and took two others in super tiebreakers.
At No. 1, Silviu Mistreanu cruised to a 6-4, 6-1 win over Alexandre Rea, Max Schmerin defeated Rahul Kamath 7-5, 6-0 at No. 6 and Sebastian Hagn picked up a 7-5, 6-1 victory over Alan Reifer to clinch the match for the Penguins.
The remaining three were played with a super tiebreaker. YSU was able to win two of the three matches for the final margin.
Winning for the Guins were Zeeshan Ismail at No. 4 and Rodrigo Campos at No. 5. Ismail picked up a 6-2, 6-7, 10-8 victory over Isaac Lloveras while Campos earned a come-from-behind 4-6, 6-3, 13-11 win over Maurizio Feoli. Dawoud Kabli dropped his match at No. 3 to Christopher Cole by a score of 4-6, 6-4, 10-5.
The Penguins return to action tomorrow when they take on Valparaiso. First serve at the Boardman Tennis Center is set for 5 p.m.
