Penguins Win Third Straight Beating Duquesne 5-2

With the win, the Penguins improve to 10-7 for the year while Duquesne is now 5-9 overall. YSU won the doubles point by winning two of three matches and won four of the six singles clashes. The contest was the final non-conference match of the year for YSU which was 9-7 in outside of league play this year.
In singles play, Paula de Man won at No. 1 by a 6-4, 6-2 score over Judy Li. With the win, de Man has won eight straight matches and improves to 15-1 for the season.
At No. 2, Margarita Sadovnikova won 6-3, 7-6 over Duquesne's Megan O'Sullivan. With the victory, Sadovikova is 15-11 on the year, including 9-6 in dual play.
At No. 3, Marta Burak won for the seventh straight time beating Sarah Shashura 7-6, 6-3. Burak is now 20-5 on the year and 14-3 in dual play.
Lauren Hankle picked up the Guins' other win at No. 5 singles. Hankle earned a 7-6 win in the first set over Chandler Consonery before breezing to a 6-0 win in the second set. Hankle is now 7-6 in dual play.
In doubles play, Hankle and de Man earned a 9-8 win over Li and Alexa Miller at No. 2 to take the point after Tijana Raicevic and Annina Brendel earned an 8-5 at No. 3.
The Penguins are back in conference play on Saturday when they play host to Cleveland State at the Boardman Tennis Center. First serve is set for 5 p.m.
