YSU is giving away nothing. Handel's bought the tickets and is distributing them to their customers. So did the Vindicator. The majority of professional sports season tickets are purchased by corporations and given to their clients or their employees. Glad we are doing this. Should try to do more of it.
top 3 in MVFC make playoffs and I would say top 4 if FCS playoff committee truly wants the best 24 teams.
''Some simply are azzuming a coronation for NDSU. I want to see what happens when they play at Southern Illinois and at Indiana State on the last two weeks of October. I don't expect them to lose, but let us see just how dominant their defense is against statistically the best offenses in the conference. '
BisoNation doesnt azzume anything, our playing on the field speaks for itself and after 2-3 weeks of struggling by our fanbase's lofty standards, NDSU is primed to explode the next 2 weeks......and NDSU plays dam well on the road with no pressures of fans , girlfriends, friends etc......
This threads lookin pretty stupid right now
it would take a mazzive meltdown by the staff not to make the playoffs
should only have to go 2-3 and get in
8-4 may not (probably won't) make it in. Playoff field expanded by 4, but 2 more conferences now get auto-bids, making it only 2 more at-large invites for all of the FCS.
Where's the loons that want Tresey fired? Crickets.
Okay I am going to do some math here:
Average Mac team has a budget of $6.9 MM and YSU has a budget of $3.4 MM in football. Football has to be one of the most expensive programs in any level. If YSU wanted to maintain football in the MAC then we would need to make up a gap of $3.5 MM per year so how could we do it?
Well right now I am not sure how much we get and pay for games except the money games, but I ll do some Uneducated math based on revenue and selective expense:
1. $400,000 per year on average from some team plus all ofhter games.
2. If we sell 12,000 tickets per game at $15 per ticket and have 7 home games that is $180,000 per game plus profits from concessions and parking. Let's say we clear $200,000 per game. That is a total of $1.4 MM per year.
3. Add in five other away games assuming we get $150,000 per game we would get an additional 750,000.
The current total based on my calculaiton is: $2.55 MM of 3.4 MM total budget. The gap is $850,000 per year.
If we joined the MAC:
1. Lets say we could play 2 money games for $900,000 per game assuming they pay D1A programs more money (at leas tthat is my thought). We would get $1.8 MM for thse games.
2. Lets say the MAC pays $250,000 per game and the remaining 4 away games pay an additional $1 MM.
3. Lets also assume that the attendence remains the same but ticket prices reach MAC levels of $30 per ticket. Then with 12,000 fans each home game it is now worth: $360,000 per game. Which is $2.520 MM per year.
4. If you factor in lower away game costs on 4 of the away games you are probably going to save $30k per game conservativley. That is a savings of $120,000 per year.
The new total is now: $5.44 MM per year.
The potential gap with the middle of the MAC based on my assumptions would be: $1.5 MM lower than the avergage MAC team budget in football.
Perhaps this is the real gap. But would YSU fans pay $30 per ticket.
AF you need to stop insulting people because they disagree with you. Say we are 'crazy', that is fine but we are not Fing morons. Clearly we are not the ones.
yeah, the vast majority are
FYI: live in Columbus, and do you want to know what the second-most common joke when a poor player is on the Buckeyes? "Looks like another Mt Union player". That is just how common knowledge it truly is. I may not know the X'and O's as well as most here, but I have forgotten more about small-college football that you will ever know. So I will say it again. A good HS team will beat MU 25% of the time. Larger prep schools would beat MU at a considerably higher rate.
like i said, a bunch of clueless morons. ill tell you what you bum, you name me EVERY single D1 player who plays at Mount Union right now, i guarentee you out of 100+ guys on the team you wont find 10%. you wanna talk your BS then back it up with a fact for once, just once, please i beg you, post one single fact.
I am not saying that Kehres is a bad coach. I am saying that YSU is in entirely different galaxy than MU. The learning curve is too high for me to accept. Look how rough Wolf has it, and he is a long-time DI coach.
Mount Union is better then YSU and its not even close, Mount Unions Freshman club team would beat YSU, theres no doubt about it.
No that we need to be having this conversation, but let Kehres cut his teeth elsewhere. DIII is faaaaarrrrr too much of a step down. I realize he could be a stud, but I do not want to risk it.
DIII isn't that much of a step down, i have no doubt Mount Union would beat YSU any given year in the last decade by a few scores and the old man has put more guys into the NFL then YSU has recentley, you gotta take the risk to get anywhere if your a YSU who isn't going to lure a good coach anyways
There you go again with your nonsense. I don't doubt Kehres is a good coach but your statement about DIII Mount Union competing with YSU is absurd. How much time did it take for you to think this up? This has to take a lot of effort.

Are you serious? Not even a remote possibility of a close game. They probably would not even be able to score. I am wiling to bet that Ursuline or Mooney would beat them 25% of the time they play. That last sentence is a serious comment. YSU is not going to get those OSU & MAC leftovers, we are a public school (although I understand they are the same now). When has he had to recruit? Going out and looking for 2-sport athletes and/or smart players is not going to cut it here.
