NCAA Simple Ratings System --- What's the Point
« on: November 24, 2013, 06:40:05 PM »
They touted the new simple ratings system, and you have the following results.

Amazed to see teams such as Samford, New Hampshire, and Furman make it in over UNI or YSU. It would be a lot more objective to take the top 13 at-large teams in the poll that are eligible for the playoffs, than just having a group of AD's stay up thru 2-3am picking who should be in. Of course you can ignore the Ivy League schools on here.

Point of my post is this... Why tout this poll, when their picks contradict the poll results?

1   Eastern Ill.   (11-1)   25.30 - Auto Bid #2 seed
2   North Dakota St.   (11-0)   23.17 - Auto Bid #1 seed
3   Eastern Wash.   (10-2)   19.05 - Auto Bid #3 seed
4   Southeastern La.   (10-2)   18.12 - Auto Bid #4 seed

Nice catch. I may have an auto-bid wrong as well then. Thought I counted right.

The mistake is Towson--not an auto bid.

Even if we went "objective" and dropped Samford and New Hampshire, the replacements would be Charleston Southern and UT-Martin. Either way YSU is out.
