So much happened in that game, hard to put into perspective. Seemed like YSU got outplayed, had an off night shooting in all aspects then as someone said above seemed like they had the game won 3 times and in spite of it all came out with the W. Really YSU has not played great in the last 3 games, but has managed to win all 3 and that's the sign of a good team. If these 3 games had been on the road, probably could have lost all 3.
That would have been a tough one to swallow had they lost and turn around and play of the best teams in NKU Saturday afternoon after playing an extra 15 mins.
I get Coach gives the players to shoot 3's when they are wide open and Malek was wide open every time, and as good as he played inside, he damn near shot YSU out of the game. He was also 0-3 from the line. Overall YSU was 6-31 from 3 after entering the game tied for 2nd in the nation in 3-pt %.
Tonight would have been a good night to have Shemar active, hopefully they get him back soon. Coach had said the other day in the press conference that he wants to play, but the trainers or doctors are holding him out. He said it was 60-40 he played this weekend.
YSU's bench has dried up. Seems like Covington can only do about 15-16 mins and you get about 3-6 points from him. Hunter is only going to give you maybe 6 points at best, he's better for his defense and is more of a zone killer. Lovelace's scoring has declined. Dunn doesn't get much PT. Irwin and Shelton really don't play anymore. Shelton got inserted into the Milwaukee game after he scored 12 against IUPUI and apparently wasn't ready to play.
Milwaukee barely beat IUPUI today by 3. IUPUI has been playing well the last 5 games, but just can't close one out. NKU won again. CSU surprisingly lost to Detroit by 18. That puts YSU in a 3-way tie for 1st & 1 up on CSU. YSU now has a 3-game lead over 5th place which is PFW a team YSU struggles with. Barring a meltdown, they are in pretty good shape for the all important top 4 seed.
