YSU - IUPUI MBB
« on: January 07, 2023, 01:04:39 PM »
Wow YSU is a 22.5-23.5 favorite. Guessing that's based on IUPUI only averaging around 60 a game & YSU around 84. Still seems really high. YSU has won 17 of 19 against them but the last 4 games has been within 7 points including a loss. IUPUI is 3-12 & 0-4 in the league & I think only has 1 D1 victory. Hope YSU doesn't take them lightly

Good to see a lot of guys get playing time.   Lovelace showing range from 3 to go along with the strong drives he has show through out the season.
18 of 34 from the 3 pt line i think they said tied a record ?

Nice to see guys like Irwin and Shelton getting minutes.   Josh was getting frustrated but he has some offensive skills and Shelton was deadly from the corner.

IUPUI just doesn't have that guy they can go to while YSU has multiple.

Chris Shelton must be in the dog house because he looked good made some shots from the corner of the bench.
Maybe he needs to play more.  Just my thoughts.  Dunn looked better.  Irwin looks lost out there.  Lovelace is going to be a stud with us.  only a freshman.

IUPUI has been on tailspin since COVID.  Last year they were 3-26 with 1 D1 victory over Robert Morris.  This year they are 3-13 with 1 D1 over Texas A&M Commerce.

This really had the feel of a D3 game.  YSU won by 31 but it probably could have been 40 or more.

Tied the 3-point and assist record in the game.  9 of the 11 players that shot a 3 made one.  Crazy to think Brandon Rush was one that didn't.

I can see why Coach gushed about Lovelace.  He might the X factor on this team.  He really can do it all.  Cohill had a double-double in 28 mins- 10 assists was impressive.

It was good to see everyone play.  I don't think Shelton is in the doghouse...he's definitely played a lot less this year, but I think it's just the talent that's on this roster. Coach complimented him in one of the post-game press conferences.  Last year he shot just 31% from 3, this year he's at 50% but has shot 75 less 3's. I think what he did Saturday was the hope of what he could do when YSU brought him in.  In 20-21 at Hampton he led the nation in 3 PT % at 49%.

Haven't heard any further update on Shemar.  Coach was hoping he'd only be out a few weeks.

Up next are Detroit & Oakland.  I'd imagine the Detroit game will be a shootout.  Oakland has won 4 straight
