Reality check is that it will take 2-3 years for Coach Calhoun to turn this program around, if he can at all.  He certainly has the energy, enthusiasm, and desire.  But YSU basketball has been one of the worst programs in the country for decades.   Yes, the run in the tournament last year was fun, but prior to that, the season was a disaster.

Slocum, Robic, and Peters, whether you like them or not, knew something about basketball, and they all struggled to get this program winning.

I agree 100% it will take 2-3 years to turn the MBB program around.  You need your players, your system to be second nature to the players, not something they have to think about etc.
However, I'm not as concerned about prior performance as it affects going forward performance.  Certainly we "haven't been good", but I wouldn't agree we are "one of the worst in the country for decades", just not good.  But regardless, players play for coaches, not history.  You replace Dean Smith with a Bill Guthridge and Matt Doherty and the program slips straight downhill (albeit, not as far down as YSU).  But bring in a Roy Williams, straight back up.  Memphis, not much, bring in Calipari, clear to the very top, now back down to .500  Basketball is about coaches, not facilities, not history, not tradition, but the current coach.  Guy sits in the family living room and the kid wants to play for the coach or he doesn't.  Coach Calhoun has "it", and is going to take us to the top of the Horizon quicker than later.
