But I have to wonder what the hell is wrong with our fanbase.

Some should stay home and just watch the replay on my wtv.

I was shocked on how many thousands of fans bought tickets and would not wait out the rain.

Guessing they decided to stay dry and watch the game on tv  they missed a great game.

Team was flat at times as were the fans, but both came through when needed

IAA-I wasn't at the game, but I listened to it. PapaGuin said the pass interference was legit, and if they would've called defensive pass intereference the refs would have needed a tank to get out of Youngstown :D.  It was another classic YSU-UNI game. Actually the YSU-UNI game was one of the better college football games today.

Not saying it was legit or not but if there was no call - it did not happen. Tons of no-call plays every game,

A win is a win is a win. Great game to watch.

Where the heck was the flag on Cooks run in the second qtr?

D still needs some work but got the job done.

No turnovers - thank God!

Special teams had a bad night.

We weren't going to show our hand before Northern Iowa .

Interesting point, hope there is something to this.

Good luck there!!!  Fans really don't know how to cheer at YSU games - lots of hand sitting, nobody getting fired up...they need to watch the big schools and see how it's done!  The only stadium in the country where you get yelled at by the police and other fans for standing up.

GO GUINS

I sit near our student section and think it is a crock how the cops stand there all game and watch them. I want them to taunt the other team, certainly there is a line they should not cross, but it seems we want them to be choir boys.

That sort of thing really does make a difference with recruiting and such. Little things like that are the difference between "great facilities" and "falling apart".

I agree this is great, now if we can only get those darn field mics fixed, how many years have they been "breaking up"

Also and this really shocked me, I drove past the Watts complex ( next to the freeway ) and the landscaping is embarrassing,   overgrown weeds along the whole length of the building. A great new building and we can't pick weeds. It really looks bad.

Drove by after the game yesterday, weeds still there, still embarrassing to see

The biggest problem on our football team is the complete lack of a pass rush from the front four.  The Albany quarterback was real comfortable back there for most of the game.  I am also displeased with the play of our secondary, but no secondary can lock down receivers beyond a certain time frame.  I saw little or no blitzing today, but we better start to do that next week....a lot.  Northern Iowa also has an inexperienced quarterback, but he has three times the talent of the kid from Albany.  Let him get comfortable and it will be a very miserable night.

Lack of a pass rush was a problem and also thought that more blitzing was in order.

Watching the replay right now, beer in hand and a lot more relaxed.

Was not happy with our pass defense, but we got the W. Only time will tell if UA was that good or we were looking past this game to UNI. I did not like some of the play calling late in the game but it worked out. Had to waste two TO's when we could not get set, lucky it did not come back to haunt us.

clickclack - really only one fan that was getting a little excitable. Had a players number on his shirt but no need to rat him out here.

Rest of your fans were great.

New stadium looks great, good luck with it.

99.9 percent of their fans were great.

They must have a fantastic stadium at Albany, one of their fans said our stadium looked like a high school field.

YSU Penguin Athletics / Re: Valpo thread!

Valpo fan here, but with Youngstown alumni in the family. Just wondering how you feel about this matchup since it's so one sided. I can't see it being much of a challenge for you, and Valpo can't put up a better scrimmage than Mooney could. Don't know if this matchup continues, but I suspect it will get revisited in a few years.

*Anybody know what YSU is paying Valpo to take this beating?

I would assume that we are paying but not sure how much. but if we are paying them I hope we have a clause in the contract  to make sure Valpo cannot use any of the money for basketball recruiting!
