YSU Penguin Athletics / Re: Scalzo's Vindy Article

The article is spot on. He doesn't take personal jabs and calls it as he sees it. From a fan standpoint the UNI win is where the wheels fell off. It was a watershed moment at the time, but that win may have given the fans false hopes as UNI was not the team they have been in past years.

I agree. That has been going on since I went there. Waaaay too much going on in the Philly area. No one cares except families and football alumni. On a serious note, send me a private message if you need any insight on the school or the area.

YSU announces 13,000 when there are 60% of that there.

FYI...kent is #25 in the AP poll.

If you're implying that the players are not trying or tanking on purpose, then that could be one of the dumbest things ever posted on this board! ;D

Ironic....guys that regularly call out player's performances by name on a website under user names are upset that a sports writer using his real name did the same thing in a very sparsley read paper? Hmmmm

KSUguin...be careful it is 1AA fans board and he will ban you if you keep up this insubordination. Remember, when YSU is good they are the best on the planet and when they do not destroy everyone all the coaches are stupid.

Hess is an excellent QB and probably will go down as YSU's best. That being said, Russell Wilson is infinitely superior. If Hess decides to leave after next season, he better have graduated because he ain't getting drafted early. He would be lucky to get picked up as a free agent after 4 seasons.

Power you need to stop smoking crack! Safeties that run 4.3 fortys only go to YSU if they've been thrown out of or failed out of another school.

Probably a step in the right direction. If the rules are the same as when I played, scholarship athletes are forbidden by the NCAA from working during the school year.

With those stellar graduation rates, perhaps the Ivy League may come calling.  ;) ;D

He is paid to win football games and nothing less. He owes no kid anything and owes his employer and fans to put the best product on the field. Loyalty and emotion will get him fired or run out of town.

If they win, no one will give a crap what he says.

The "agenda" is that they enjoy reporting dirt on a coach and program that paints themselves as above all of the crooked nonsense. If he was truly scared for his players' safety he would have hired them security. The only thing he was scared of was losing the Sugar Bowl.

When you act like you are running a clean program and like you are an innocent schoolboy, you better be prepared for the onslaught when something happens, no matter how minor it is. The other programs avoid it because their coahes don't act like they are innocent kids. Everyone knows they are all crooked.

I would love for YSU to get good at basketball. I wouldn't go see the product they've had for the last 10 years for free. Let's face it....until they start winning they will be a Siberia of D1 basketball. A place to go after JUCO when no one else is calling or as a last resort because you really want to say you played D1 basketball. The truth hurts, but that is the talent level here.

Just being a realist. The only thing that can help this team is WINNING. A mention on ESPN will not help recruiting to a place where 10 wins is considered a good year. Either find a coach and spend the money to compete, or drop to division 2.

I tell this, we had so many mentions this past week; I hope it pays some dividends. Last night we had mentions on both national TV and radio

I can see it now:

College recruit: "hey mom, I want to go to YSU. They beat Butler this year."
Mom: "never heard of that school, lets find out more"
Recruit " I just went online, it seems like they are one of the worst D1 programs in the last 25 years- nevermind"

Get real. A mention that Butler's last loss was at the hands of this wretched program is meaningless!
