I doubt Ryan would have sent the letter, plus attained the overwhelming support from business and community leaders, without some kind of indication from Tressel that he is interested.

I agree, no doubt several of the local big shots that signed the letter have JT's cell number

0505 Coach will retire at YSU when he is ready to.  0505 do you have the money to pay some young hot assistant, if so how about sending a check to YSU then.

If the seats were all full every game, no one would have to send in a check, just saying!

YSU Penguin Athletics / Re: YSU might lose President Dunn to SIU!!!

Could we possibly be that fortunate?.

I shall wish upon the first star I see tonight!

Are you hoping that he is leaving or that we get JT, or both?

In my book if he even applied for the job, he is gone. If he gets it so be it if he does not fire him. How can you have faith and trust in someone to lead us into the future if they are looking after 6 months. Don't give me any crap about more money, he knew what the job paid when he accepted it.

Boy I sure hope this is not true!

Student newspaper: YSU's Dunn top contender for Illinois job

Published: Sun, February 16, 2014 @ 6:33 p.m.
YOUNGSTOWN Randy Dunn, who has been president of Youngstown State University only since July 13, 2013, is reported to be the front-runner to be named president of Southern Illinois University.

According to the "Daily Egyptian, SIU's student newspaper, the university's Board of Trustees chose its new president Thursday Feb. 13 and is expected to announce its pick at 2 p.m. Monday Feb. 17.

Attempts to reach Dunn and Dr. Sudershan Garg, chairman of the YSU Board of Trustees, to confirm the story, were unsuccessful.

Ron Cole, manager of news and information services at YSU, said he contacted Dunn's chief of staff, Shannon Tirone, whom he said is trying to reach Dunn for more information. Cole said he has no information beyond what was in the "Daily Egyptian."

Former Ohio Sen. Harry Meshel, a member of the YSU board, said he was unsuccessful in reaching Dunn. However, Meshel said he hopes the story is not true.

"I really like Dunn, and feel the rest of the board shares my opinion," Meshel said.

This is a breaking news story. Watch Vindy.com for updates.

They did what they had to do against a not so good team,  nice job ladies.

My only question is why Barnes keeps his starters in so long, game was over with 4-5 min left. I thought that he should have had the bench at that point. But what do I know.

Too many rules already, do not need it. Defense needs to step up.

Something like 13 on O and 8 on D. A couple of studs on the D-line would go a long way.

NDSU had a lot of seniors this year, new starters and new coaching staff bring questions, If we find a solid qb that game can be ours.

Read the article earlier and thought it was an eye openner. I have picked on Strollo in the past but it seems that in the facilities area of his job he is spot on.

Amazing how short these threads are after a win. Very interesting .

I was thinking the same thing, it's a mindset that is hard to change.

YSU Penguin Athletics / Re: Fun Day Yesterday
« on: January 26, 2014, 04:26:34 PM »
What a fun day on the campus of Youngstown State University yesterday. Took my kids to family fun day and they had a ton of YSU athletes. Along with bounce arounds, autographs, etc. Very nicely done. Great way to get young kids on the campus of YSU and make them lifelong fans.

Then both the men's and women's games were a blast to be at. Wins for the good guys and entertainment before, during and after each game.

The Athletic Department gets a lot of unwarranted flack by people on this board. But no one ever gives them any credit. Yesterday was the prime example of why YSU is the greatest school in the state. Proud to be an alum.

Nice upbeat post, cool!
