Bear:

He definitely made the right choices.

I'm sure he cut weight the right way, but that is a big problem in high school.

Good luck to both of you this year.

Yeah he tech-falled a kid.

Very unusual at HVY, to score 15 points.  Most matches are pins.  He was at 215 last year so he must be around 240.  240 with skills is a tough cookie.

We are lucky there is no free agency in College Hoops.!

YSU Penguin Athletics / Re: Football Locker Room

That Locker Room has come a long way since I was there!!  I think we started getting the wood lockers in 1994.

Hey twin!

My company actually did a lot of painting there about 12 years ago.

It's come a long way.

Beautiful.

On the "dead weight" issue:

can't he (Boldon) just non-renew the scholarships?  I understand the image that puts up, but if they are not "his" recruits, does that make it OK?

Old guy speaking now and this might be out-dated or not needed anymore, but we used to require players to watch televised games, 3-4 a week at least to get them some "basketball IQ".  Whether this would work in the facebook era is questionable.  It has to be done early in high school though.

If you do not believe that, try watching a televised replay of a local high school basketball game.

So right.  Unwatchable.

All murders in Youngstown should be assigned to Judge Krichbaum.

In fact ALL criminal cases should be assigned to him.  I know that is impossible, but

"copy"  on what Wick said about prosecutors.

Wick said "It will be a good thing to see quality players leave because they cannot get on the field rather than to see players leave because they could not compete at this level.  We experienced way too much of the latter during the past decade."

Great point.

If you are a YSU fan, you have to be excited with this class.

YSUGO also made a great point about the heights and weights.

YSU Penguin Athletics / Re: New Basketball Coach
« on: February 02, 2011, 12:00:35 PM »
Dan Peters left primarily because he was frustrated coaching basketball at a football school where the athletic director was also the football coach.  So he would jump at the opportunity to return to the football school where the athletic director was a former football player for his old boss.  He would love to compete in the Horizon League with a lower recruiting budget than any rival.  He would enjoy trying to rebuild a program in this amazingly fertile basketball recruiting zone called the Mahoning Valley.  Yep, seem perfectly logical to me. :P

I agree.  Pipe Dreams.  IP---weigh in on this please.
