YSU Penguin Athletics / Re: Cleveland St basketball stacked next year

Play nice guys!!!!

Every Horizon League team 1-5 above us is in some kind of torney (NIT, CBI or NCAA).  If we keep progressing and don't take too much of step backwards, maybe we could be considered for one of the tourneys is coming years.  Should help recruiting, even though you have to pay the CBI or CIT, (whatever they call it) to get in.  I'm just hoping we don't go backwards with the progress we made this season.

Bobby Hahn is 6'9'' and he's coming from Jupiter, Fla.  However, no inside game which we need.

I'm really hoping beyond everything that we do not take a step back from the successes we enjoyed this year, and this season is a springboard to move this program forward.

Sorry!  I forgot about Liles.  There was a good Big!

Nice, concentrate on football only, and forget the other sports seems to be the trend. Thanks Strollo!

You and I both know Slocum will not go out and get a decent big man.  If he does, I'll be very surprized.  He seems more inclined to run a more guard-small forward oriented offense.  Every big man he has gotten  (Eddie D'Haiti) has either quit the program or didn't play up to expections of a post presence.

This team is maddening in consistent.  They look like world beaters one game and completely sleepwalk the next.  Why Solcum can not keep them up and ready to play is beyond my comprehension.  Especially when we have a chance for a home PO game.

Hey! I deserve it, but how can you not be disappointed when they played so lackluster in front of 4,000 people against Butler.  Believe me, I'm  hoping beyond all hope that Slcoum turns this program around into a winner.  I want to see the stands full every night they play.  It's just that we've been suffering so long.  I used to go to the games back in the late seventies and mid-eighties when Dom and Mike Rice coached.  I want to see us progress as well as anyone else.  9-6 in the Horizon is tremedous for us.  I expect atleast two more wins, maybe three. Possibly a couple of tourney wins for good measure.  Hey! it's possible.

YSU Penguin Athletics / Re: YSU LEADS VALPO AT HALF TIME
« on: February 11, 2012, 11:26:23 PM »
Have to admit, I didn't see this one coming.  But it sure feels good to beat Valpo for a change.  At least, we know we won't have a losing record in the Horizon this season.  I don't care if their big guy was out, this feels good!

Once again a chance in front of a big crowd with an opportunity to at least get people interested in the program, and slocum doesn't have the team ready to play.  How many damn drives to basket did we give up with virtually no inside presence once Eargle went out in the first half.  Damit get us some big men who know how to defend the interior
Eargle is not going to be around forever.    Valpo, Detroit and Wright coming up, yep there goes our chance at a home po game.

Nice job of showing for the most important game in over a decade.  Again, no toughness or heart whatso ever.   No bench, could not play to our strength of shooting threes.  Totally dominated, and the worst part is, it was known they would play pressure defense from the start of the game, and nothing was done to adjust to it.

673
Chojnacki and Larson are not going to be enough to compete in the Horizon League.  Need at least two more big men that can play the 5 position.  Zuiker is not a 5.  I can't how many put backs other teams had over our smaller players last season while watching on the HLN.  Many of them were over the back of our smaller wing players.

YSU Penguin Athletics / Re: Mike Cochran as the new strength coach

Lecter, read between the lines on my comment.  It was a sarcastic approach at Slocum's desire to recruit guards.  Of course, I see he offered another one from Florida, and still no mention of trying to recruit any bigs to help Eargle.

"We're committed to winning championships in all sports," Strollo said.  "Mike Cochran is a big piece of that puzzle."   That doesn't sound to me that wins in basketball is not important to our athletic director.  Now, how do we start winning in the other sports, our strenght and conditioning coach doesn't recruit!
