A quirk in the league schedule that might help us
« on: October 06, 2014, 08:01:22 AM »
We all know that playing NDSU and UNI takes a physical toll on a team.  Looking over the league schedule, I noted this oddity.  Our next five opponents play either NDSU or UNI the week prior to playing us!

Western Illinois (hosted NDSU last Saturday)
Southern Illinois (will visit NDSU the week before playing us)
South Dakota State (will visit UNI the week before playing us)
South Dakota (will host NDSU the week before playing us)
Illinois State (will visit UNI the week before playing us)
Indiana State (will host SDSU  the week before playing us)
NDSU (with visit Missouri State the week before playing us)

Will we receive any concrete advantage from such scheduling?  Who knows but it cannot hurt.

I was thinking the same thing but didn't have the time to look it up.

It will help in game preparations. Usually film review looks at the upcoming opponent. But in this case you can see if NDSU did what YOU PLAN to do and if not , why not.  That brings formations and tendencies more into focus. And if the other team is running similar O or D, you see exactly what NDSU wants to do. Its a game of Xs and Os. Personnel only enhances what you try to do.  This quirk is a plus.

It always happens, whoever plays NDSU's opponent from the earlier week gets a WIN>   that team is physically beat down.

happened with Iowa State and Montana this year already, Western ILL had guys cramping up, but none got hurt.
