I second that.  It was a little bizarre to have a coach of that stature working as a mere position coach on this staff.  Any more changes expected on our staff?  Hard to believe that Wolford would retain all his defensive coaches after that disaster last fall.

I wonder if more changes will be afoot simply from the lack of action on a contract extension.  I think assistants will be more likely to jump for a similar offer if Wolford doesn't have an extension.  Don't want the debate over whether he should, simply making a statement that the lack of one could impact staff - in terms of guys leaving and who would want to come here on what could be a one year gig.

Changes aren't done. Kravitz was gone at the end of January. Keep that in mind folks. The way these assistants contracts are structured, it may be a few more weeks. Watch the scoop sites.

Looking at it objectively, it doesn't look good for Mangino to bail out after a year while coming back home, late in his career. To leave this soon this late in his career would seem to indicate he doesn't see much of a future here. If the flood gates open and others start to leave, the writing could  very well be on the wall.  I don't see Wolf not being able to fall into an assistant job with his recruiting abilities factored in should he get canned, but he might be inclined to bail out too before the ax falls.

Could be an interesting next few months.

My guess is that Mangino clashed with Montgomery.  If so that tells you who is staying.
Watching from the stands it seemed that Tressey over rode Coach Sims decisions so I
am concerned that Sims will leave also.
Well - if Bob Stoops goes to the pro's, maybe his brother wants to come home.

Good for Mangino, he doesn't deserve to be stuck here. As for changes, Montgomery can go for all I care.

Yes.  That's exactly it.

Did anyone HONESTLY think he was going to be here more than 1-2 years? We were lucky to get him back from Naples in the first place, but once he got back into it, you could tell he was truly enjoying it.

You are the former National Coach of the Year. You get driven out of that school and are forced to later become a TE coach at an FCS school. You get an offer to become an offensive coordinator in the Big 12....

Why on earth would he NOT take that move? Clearly he has his eyes set up on being a head coach again.

And even if he didn't, anyone with a brain jumps at this opportunity.  To think there are any other real reasons why he took this job is absurd.  Good for him and good luck to him.

You are correct... anyone with half a brain would take this jump. But half-minded, simple thinking folks can't comprehend this.
