YOUNGSTOWN

Youngstown State junior guard Kendrick Perry injured his knee during practice Wednesday and could miss significant time, sources said Thursday. At least one report has Perry missing the team’s final three regular-season games.

Perry, who injured his left knee during summer league play in June, was seen Thursday walking on crutches on campus. It is not known which knee is injured or whether the injuries are related.

Perry is second in the Horizon League in scoring at 16.9 points per game, first in steals (2.0) and fifth in assists (4.1).

Neither YSU coach Jerry Slocum nor Perry was available for comment. YSU plays Central Michigan on Saturday.

Unfortunate news.  With Eargle not 100% the remainder of games look like loses.  Hopefully KP's knee will not hurt his play in the long term.  Time for the other players to step up.

Even without KP, the game against CMU is a game YSU can win. Hopefully they feed off the crowd and it being Senior Day. Blake Allen will have to step up, and if Belin is able to have a good shooting game, that will make it alot easier to get the ball to Eargle inside, plus open the lanes for the guards to drive.

Wright State and Valpo on the road were going to be tough games to win, even with KP. Anything can happen, but will likely lose those 2 games without Perry.

If KP is able to play in the HL Tournament, no reason YSU cannot win their 1st round game. And, the best they were going to finish even if beating both WSU and Detroit was 4th. Now they will likely finish 5th. First round game at home, then likely next game at Valpo against the 4 seed. With a healthy KP, it will depend which YSU team shows up. The one that shoots well, plays solid defense and forces the opponent to play the way YSU likes to play. Or, the YSU team that shoots poorly, allows the opponent to dictate the tempo, and does a poor job of defense and rebounding.

Does anyone know if Perry is expected back for the HL Tournament?
