Hire Joe Lombardi from Indiana(pa).  He is one of the top Div. 2 coaches and a former penguin.  He has been an assistant at Pitt 2003-2006 and Lasalle 2001-2003 and at St. Francis prior to that.  Div. 1 experience and a good recruiter I hear.  I have family in W.Pa that knows him and he would be interested in coming here from what I hear.  Unlike Slocum he would bring the Pitt experience with him.  He was a great recruiter at Pitt.   May be a good hire money wise as well.  Any thoughts?

Here is the central point: would Lombardi or any other successful head coach (D2 or low major D1) come here for the same pay as Slocum and with the same recruiting budget?  As IP noted on another thread, there is no money.  Looking at our miserable bench, I now advocate replacing Slocum IF there is a reasonable chance that the new guy could do better.  And that is an open question.

Doesn't Lombardi have some baggage?  If so, how serious?  Or am I confusing him with someone else?

I think you are confusing Lombardi with Voitino when you speak of excess
baggage.  I could be wrong.  I'll stand corrected, rest assured, if I am.
