Let's note that for many years, the main draw to moving up, was the chance at big game revenues ... at this point we are getting those games now. How long that lasts will be a big question. Will a different governing body (some sort of play-off committee) look down on play-off caliber teams playing the FCS schools?

As more teams are moving up from FCS to FBS, I believe the ability for FCS teams to schedule big $$ games will be more difficult. If the business could be made to move up in order to get those games, we need to at least be open to the idea. If the numbers don’t add up, at least we have tried.

Most of the discussions on moving down to d-2 that I have heard within the university were mostly from the faculty union. I recall the time after a heated discussion in the academic senate on this subject and I was walking out after the meeting and had a brief discussion with then new YSU president Randy Dunn. He told me that the trustees and the community told him that they wanted YSU to stay in d-1 sports. I don’t know if that was true. But that was what he told me.

I'm sure the Union tried that on Dunn cause he was new and more so an outsider.

Agree. If I recall correctly, that was Dunn’s first academic senate. To Tressel’s credit, he avoided discussing topics relating to athletics. He mostly focused on academic, operational (especially enrollment and budget) and infrastructure issues.
When I met with him, he was especially interested in students’ accomplishments.

Dunn was only here 1 year so who cares.
