Lol, that’s the excuse they use if they don’t want to play you.
Who knows, may be ND had a late cancellation from a FBS school. Tennessee State guys probably said the same thing…..why would a FBS playoff team (or possibly National Champion), Ohio State, play play YSU in 2023?

2015 - Alabama - Played FCS Charleston Southern
2016 - Clemson - Played FCS South Carolina State
2017 - Alabama - Played FCS Mercer
2018 - Clemson - Played FCS Furman
2019 - LSU - Played FCS Northwestern State
2020 - Alabama - No FCS Opponent as this was the COVID year and FCS played in Spring
2021 - Georgia - Played FCS Charleston Southern

Crenshaw will not play QB at Tennessee State.  I bet they have another position for him.   He was not that good at QB.   That is why he entered the portal.
