Glad to have him.  But I am always amused by the way that small town journalists report that their local hero "got an offer" from a P5 school when in reality the major player just made contact and showed some preliminary interest.  I hate Ohio State (and everybody else that is not YSU) but there is no way this kid turned down a real offer from OSU to come here.

IMO, the D-1 schools might have offered him a walk on status. According to the article, YSU signed him as an athlete and I believe they will put him as DB or safety. If he is truly a Nate Mays type, there is no way they could develop him into a starting QB. That article has many questionable statements.

OSU, seriously?  This kid couldn't possibly be recruited as a QB by YSU.  I assume we are looking at him as a safety?

Boy, what a letdown from my tired old eyes!  I saw Gage Salyers and for just a fraction of a second read "Gayle Sayers"  Now that would have been a welcome addition!

for a guy this size, (which looks pretty accurate) this guy has great footwork and moves well.  downfield blocking and LB pick ups at the second level pretty impressive. Not a bick school, so you can't gage the competition, but movement counts against anybody and Evan seems to move very well for 330#

Four things to love here:
1. this kid has an attitude.  HUDL highlights show him following his man all the way to the ground, time after time.  No brush blocks here.
2. based on size of the stadium and number of fans this is a good size school. Sometimes when you get the West Branch kid, he looks great but you don't know if he's blocking me!  These are good size schools.
3. We have a one and done center, so this kid is going to be very welcome!
4. he posting highlights from summer camp attended, which says something about his commitment to the game, and getting better before his senior season.
