Bull. The only thing more absurd is taking a rebuilding program and increasing OOC schedule strength when they already play in the toughest conference. Common sense, so why do you continually argue such a point as if it were the 1990's? Bring this up again when we have been in the post-season 5 out of the last 6-years.

Also, they are not looking to exclude us ...quite the contrary. They are looking to get YSU to host, we are historically a great venue for the NCAA. It will be tough to give us a home game if we do not win-out.

The CFB daily show just released it's top 10 F.C.S. rankings and the only Missouri conference team listed was N.D.S.U. at 4th.

YSU does not meet the FBS requirement of 15K average attendance, and prolly can't afford 82 scholarships (let alone FCOA scholarships).  Most MAC schools are on an unsustainable fiscal path and can only run up the credit card so long.  My guess is a few MAC schools will stay FBS, but most of the conference will drop to FCS, and invite YSU to replace a school that stayed FBS....prolly w/in 10 years.

It is easy to see how they want to go ...and should go:

The country generally splits eat and west of the Mississippi River = 2
There are two regional offices in each of those areas for a total = 4. Here are the states associated with each, this does change annually:

- Region 1 - Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont;
- Region 2 - Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, Puerto Rico, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia;
- Region 3 - Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Ohio, Wisconsin; and
- Region 4 - Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, Washington, Wyoming.

Now go to the participating conferences and look for their home offices:

Region 4: Big Sky: Utah
Region 4: Southland: TX

Region 3: Missouri Valley: MO
Region 3: Pioneer League: MO

Region 2: Big South: NC
Region 2: Southern: SC
Region 2: Colonial: VA
Region 2: Mid-Eastern Athletic: VA
Region 2: Ohio Valley: TN

Region 1: Northeast: NJ
Region 1: Patriot League: PA

From here you configure 6 teams from each region, which means you have to place some teams on location of the college, as opposed to the conference. So if anyone wants to take the top teams in these states and their conferences ,,,you can pretty much figure it out in advance.

Imagine a conference call among members of that selection committee (excluding the rep from the MVFC.)  It would go something like this:

"Guys, the MVFC is just too good.  What can we do about that?"

"We will never catch up with them, so let's find a way to keep more of their teams out of the playoffs."

"I know.  Let's remove strength of schedule entirely from the process.  That way, the MVFC giants will beat up each other and eliminate themselves."

"Brilliant.  Let's do that"

Once again, the selection committee has proven that they are the worst liars and hypocrites in America, except of course for our worthless politicians.

Why all the talk: for 2016 ...Big South gets #1 & 2, PFL=1, NC=1, Patriot=1, MEAC=1 (as they have another championship) and the rest of the conferences get their top-3 teams. YSU do not like that? There is room in the OVC. Heck Tressel moved us out of the OVC because we could not get past EKU ...now let's go back in for the same reason. Or work harder for a top-3 spot. Who gives a darn about OOC scheduling? Worry about your conference. Start the play-off & we should know before i is announced. What we are waiting for is who will stay home & who will travel. If there is a situation where two teams did not face each other and are tied ...then you go by the conference tie-breaker and smarten up with OOC scheduling over conference team bye's. You do not see Ohio State skipping Michigan do you? No they contract for those years the teams do not face each other.

If playoff selections were merit-based:

Using Massey, seven of the top 24 teams are in the MVFC...so seven teams would be selected.  We are excited if five teams get in.

YSU is ranked 95 in Sagarin, and fourth in the MVFC.  We'd be the top ranked team in 10 FCS conferences including the CAA, Ivy, and Big South.  We'd be autobids in this majority of FCS conferences, and most it wouldn't even be sporting...it would be absolute domination. The lowest we'd be is second in two conferences: the BSC, and the OVC.  As an aside, our Sagarin rating is higher than any MAC-East team.

But we are in the MVFC....where capable and deserving teams sit home during the playoffs. A consequence of the  "every conference gets a trophy" playoff model.

That model simply makes top teams better and lower team worse each year. The division could never sustain itself. Same team win year after year. The NCAA has to think of the welfare of all teams.

NDSU has created an arms race in the MVFC. Four teams now have FCOA just to attempt to be competitive. All MVFC teams had to improve in order to have a shot at the MVFC autobid, playoffs, or even a winning record.  To be the best, you must beat the best.  Subsidizing losers does not create winners.

Also, the D1 subdivisions need reorganization.  YSU is ranked higher than a G5-East conference, shares a conference with teams that have defeated P5 teams, and yet is in a subdivision with non-scholly and partial scholly schools.  Nonsensical.

Does it matter if you beat them after the last Saturday in November or before? Not really. Name a time when YSU ever beat the nation's top teams in the regular season back in the 90's. We did what we had to do to get in to the field of 16. If we do not have the resources to compete in the MVFC, then it is time to leave. It truly is that simple. Once you start seeing the post-season on a more regular basis, our coaching staff has to learn things all over again, as it takes a different type of team to win in a tournament. We will need to learn what to show and what not. Something Tressel was an expert at. I hope we need to learn that soon

Then again you will just insult the individuals that wrestle with these decisions everyday in their jobs.

We do not have the resources to compete with consistency in the MVFC, and we won't until we get FCOA.  This is the best season we've had since 2006, and we are ranked only 4/10 in the MVFC in Sagarin.  I wouldn't leave tho since the MAC implosion is not far off.

Then again you will just insult the individuals that wrestle with these decisions everyday in their jobs.

Yes, but to say they "wrestle" with decisions suggests they have cognitive capabilities above that of a lizard.

Well if you think you can do better, YSU has hired many AAD's over the recent years. Send your resume. Until then, they are the experts; most of us are a bunch of die-hard fans on our site hoping we find the right balance on an over-achieving defense, under-achieving offense and improving special teams.

You make FAR too much of FCOA than it really is. Have you ever truly realized the there are 4 DI football schools in the the combined Dakotas? 11 in the surrounding states. There are 13 in Ohio alone and heading for 100 if you include the surrounding states. NDSU is at the top of the food chain ...we are at the bottom. So why do you always look for some miracle cure? You are so typical ... fight by insulting others instead of attacking their ideas. When in reality there is nothing to fight over. Oh yes ...the administration and staff is deliberately sabotaging their programs.

Keep looking for "grassy knolls" and ignore the need for 100+ yards of new turf.

Nation: if you expect your posts to stay. you better stop insulting people ... is this not what I have been saying ...grow up already. BTW we are the only I-AA FB program in NEO so your point was not very meaningful.

It is game day, can you not enjoy it? If you do not like the product on the field then stop watching it ...no one will care. IN the mean time stop trying to ruin everyone else's good time.
