YSU Remains Perfect in League Play With 6-1 Win At Milwaukee

The win improves YSU to 12-8 overall and 5-0 in the Horizon League. The Penguins have won six straight dual matches. Milwaukee falls to 5-14 and 3-3.
YSU claimed the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 2 both by 6-4 scores. At No. 1, Marta Burak and Julianna Heino won while at No. 2, Annina Brendel and Nehel Sahni earned the victory.
At No. 1 singles, Burak earned the 90th singles win of her career beating Chelsea Bailey 6-2 and 6-3. Dominika Lackova remained perfect in her Horizon League career with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Hayley Marshall at No. 2.
Brendel had the most impressive singles win of the day at No. 3 winning 6-0, 6-1 over Aerielle Pendleton.
The Guins earned a pair of close three-set wins at No. 4 and No. 6. Sahni had a back-and-forth contest with Alysa Struab at No. 4. Sahni won the first set 7-6 before losing the second 7-6. In the decisive set, Sahni earned a 10-8 win to take the match. At No. 6, Sofia Macias Mendoza rebounded after dropping her first set 6-4 to Mardee Merar before winning the second 6-3 and in the third picked up an 11-9 win.
The Penguins close out their Wisconsin swing with a match at Green Bay tomorrow afternoon.
