YSU Completes Homestand With Win Over NJIT

The Penguins (5-3) won the final three matches of their season-long four-game homestand following the win over NJIT on Sunday.
YSU needed to bounce back from an 0-2 deficit to claim the win over the Highlanders. The Guins dropped the doubles point losing at No. 1 and No. 3 and had a default loss at No. 6 singles.
Picking up wins were Marta Burak (No. 1), Annina Brendel (No. 2), Nehel Sahni (No. 3) and Julianna Heino (No. 5). Victoria Ferry's match at No. 4 ended when the Penguins clinched the win.
At No. 1, Burak won for the ninth straight time winning by a 6-1, 6-1 score. Brendel battled back for a tough three-set win at No. 2. She dropped the first set 6-4 before rebounding to win the next two 6-2, 6-3. At No. 3, Sahni won in straight sets by 6-3, 6-2 count. Heino won 6-3, 4-1 at No. 5 when NJIT was forced to abandon the match. At No. 4, Ferry was in a tight 6-2, 5-7, 3-2 match when it ended.
The Penguins are next in action on Friday when they visit West Virginia.
