Home Games at the New Farmers National Bank Field Highlight 2013 Women’s Soccer Schedule

Youngstown, Ohio – The Youngstown State women's soccer team will play a total of 17 games in 2013 highlighted by eight contests during the inaugural season at the programs new home venue,  Farmers National Bank Field, Head Coach Will Lemke announced on Thursday (June 13).

"This is an exciting year for Youngstown State women's soccer with the opening of Farmer's National Bank Field," Lemke said. "We have a challenging schedule ahead of us, but one that will push us to get better each day."

The Penguins host Toledo, Friday, Aug. 30, at 4 p.m. in the first game at Farmers National Bank Field after opening the campaign on the road for games at Niagara, Aug. 23, and Canisius, Aug. 25.

The Penguins also hosts non-league opponents Akron (Sept.6), Robert Morris (Sept. 11), Ohio (Sept. 13) and Cedarville (Sept. 24). Horizon League foes playing at Farmers National Bank Field include Green Bay (Oct. 5), Valparaiso (Oct. 19) and Detroit (Nov. 1).

The non-league road opponents for the Penguins include at Buffalo (Sept. 1), at Northern Kentucky (Sept. 15) and at Kent State (Sept. 20). The Penguins Horizon League road contests are at Wright State (Sept. 28), at league newcomer Oakland (Oct. 12), at Cleveland State (Oct. 16) and at Milwaukee (Oct. 26).

The Penguins are coming off their best season in school history after posting a school-best eight wins in 2012 and return 17 letterwinners and nine starters from that squad.

Junior Chelsey Haney was named All-Horizon League Second-Team and All-Newcomer Team last season after leading the Penguins with five goals and 13 total points. Sophomore Tyesha Kizer was also named to the Horizon League All-Newcomer Team.
