Soccer Holds Off St. Bonaventure, 2-1

With the win, the Penguins improve to 5-5 overall while the Bonnies dropped to 3-4-2.
For nearly 35 minutes the Penguins and Bonnies were scoreless. Junioor Sarah Staley from the right side of the penalty box found an open Baquero who drilled her first goal of the year into the right side of the net at the 34:56 mark.
At the 50:32 mark, Lum took a great feed from Abby Kenski, beat a defender and blasted a shot into the upper left corner to give the Penguins a 2-0 lead.
Freshman goalkeeper Elizabeth Balygoyen was credited with six saves, but face a total of 17 shots, including eight in the second half.
The Bonnies cut the Penguins lead in half when Lauren Hill's header from a Jessica Scruggs cross found the back of the net at the 60:25 mark.
Lum had four of the Penguins nine shots while Baquero had two.
The Penguins return to Horizon League action and close out their eight-match homestand against Valparaiso, Saturday, Sept. 26, at 7 p.m.
