YSU Track and Field Summer Camps Set for July 22-24
The Youngstown State track and field program is offering summer camps this July 22-24 for individuals who are interested in enhancing their jumping, throwing and pole vaulting abilities. This camp offers experienced instruction from YSU coaches Katrina Brumfield, Tyler Lippert, David Townsend and Rick Penniman.

Camps are open to any and all entrants. The cost of each camp is $85 per session. A two-day session pass is available for $150 and the price to attend all three camps is $215.

The camps will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. each day in the WATTS on the YSU campus.

Participants will receive specific instruction on improving jumping, throwing, hurdling and pole vault mechanics along with drills for jump, throws, hurdle and pole vault enhancement. The camp will focus on developing fundamental skills that are necessary for successful jumps, throws and hurdling and attendees can apply skills learned into live jumps or throws or hurdling.

Technique and training instruction in high jump, long jump, shot put, hammer throw, pole vault and hurdling will be stressed.

Event options for Friday are jumps, throws and hurdles. On Saturday and Sunday the focus areas will be jumps, throws, hurdles and pole vault.

Brumfield once again coaches some of the top jumpers in the league. At the Outdoor Horizon League Championships, Arnaldo Morales won his third straight conference title in the high jump. For the women, freshman Chontel Fils won the long jump at the outdoor league meet and the triple jump at the indoor league meet. Savannah Osborne took first in the indoor long jump. Multi-event standout Isaac Agyemang won the hepthalon at the indoor league meet.

Townsend has coached a successful group of YSU sprinters and hurdlers for many years. Nina Grambling recently concluded an outstanding career that saw her win the 100-meter dash for straight times and the 200m three consecutive years on the outdoor circuit. Shatasia Walker won the 60m hurdles at the indoor league championships while Amber Eles took first in the 100m outdoor event. For the men, Chad Zallow was a second-team Indoor All-American after finishing ninth at the 2016 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships.

Lippert, who recently concluded his first year as a member of the YSU staff, coached indoor first-team All-American Conner Neu (weight throw) and Neu ranks in the top five nationally in the hammer throw entering the final month of the season. Ryan Booth won both the indoor and outdoor shot put conference titles and Jaynee Corbett won four throwing league titles this past year.

Penniman is a veteran YSU coach who helped guide the women's pole vaulters to a school record during the outdoor season. He also worked with the indoor heptahlon school-record holder and Horizon Leage champion as well.
