YSU Opens Outdoor Season Strong at Raleigh Relays

The best individual finish for the Penguins was by sprinter Nina Grambling who finished third in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.88 seconds. Grambling was just .08 behind Michigan State's Jellisa Westney was behind by .01 behind the second-place finisher, East Tennessee State's Keturah Williams.
Throwers Jennifer Neider and Conner Neu had top-six individual finishes in deep fields. Neider was fifth in the shot put with a toss of 12.94 meters out of 41 competitors. Neu was sixth in the hammer throw with a heave of 60.34 meters out of 48 throwers.
Senior Jessica Parham was seventh in her first javelin event of the year with a throw of 43.52m.
Senior Eric Rupe ran a time of 3:51.28 in the 1,500-meter run and that ranks as the second-fastest in school history in the event. His previous best in the event was 3:15.14.
Freshman Carl Zallow placed 12th in the 200m dash with a time of 22.76 seconds. In the 100-meter dash for the men, Marcellus Embry had a time of 11.15 seconds while Zallow was just behind at 11.16 seconds.
Senior Ciara Jarrett running her first race of the year for the Penguins had a time of 26.09 seconds in the 200-meter dash and was 10th.
Arnaldo Morales was fourth in the High Jump Invitational clearing a height of 2.05 meters while Mackenzie Sturtz finished tied for sixth in the High Jump College event clearing a height of 1.55m.
Freshman Ryan Booth 12th in the men's shot put with a toss of 15.48 meters.
Running personal-best times in the 5,000 meters for the women were McKinsie Klim and Melissa Klim. McKinsie Klim clocked in a 17:44.70 and Melissa Klim had a time of 18:27.90.
Senior Jennifer Shiley finished in the top 20 in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:04.70. Also, the women's 4x100-relay squad had a time of 47.87 seconds.
YSU is in action next on April 3-4 when they compete at the Northeast Ohio Quad in Akron.
