YSU Sprinters Highlight Day Two Performances at YSU Invitational

Nina Grambling won the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.60 seconds while Ciara Jarrett won the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.71 seconds. Jarrett was second in the 60 meters with a time of 7.67 seconds while Alexis Washington was fourth at 7.80 seconds. In the 200, Grambling was third clocking in at 25.25 seconds. Additionally, two women's 4X400-meter relay team placed second with a time of 3:48.88.
Senior Michael Davis led the men in both sprint events. Davis was second in the 60-meter dash with a time of 6.92 seconds and placed third in the 200 at 22.17 seconds. Tarelle Irwin was fourth in the 200 meters at 23.10 seconds and fifth in the 60m at 6.99 seconds.
In the field events for the men, John Seaver won the shot put with a heave of 16.26 meters, Jay Jakovina placed second in the high jump clearing a height of 1.98 meters and Dorian Davis placed seventh in the triple jump with a 13.39m leap.
In the field events for the women, freshman Jennifer Neider won the shot put with a throw of 14.14 meters. Senior Alison Roth placed third with a throw of 13.12m. Katrina Rettburg placed sixth in the high jump with a jump of 1.60m while Leanna Hartsough was eighth with a jump of 1.55m.
In the running events for the women, Monica Ciarniello was eighth in the mile run with a time of 5:14.96. In the 400 meters, Nicole Pachol placed fourth with a time of 57.72 seconds and Alteeka Vanwright finished eighth with a time of 58.69 seconds. In the final individual event, Anna Pompeo finished fourth in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 10:15.29. Additionally, Kendall Homan took home a sixth-place spot in the 60m hurdles with a time of 9.31 seconds.
For the men, Clay Febus had a fourth-place finish in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.60 seconds and freshman Kodie Fennell placed fifth in the 800 meters with a time of 1:55.98.
In the scoring race, Bucknell won the men's side by 0.16 over Duquesne outscoring the Dukes 150.16 to 150. Dayton was third at 130 while YSU placed fourth at 114.33. For the women, Bucknell dominated scoring 322.50 points. Duquesne was second at 117, Detroit was third with 81 and YSU came in fourth with 70 points.
The Penguins are next in action on Feb. 8-9 when they compete at the Grand Valley State Big Meet in Michigan.
