Penguins Drop Hard-Fought Match Against Gonzaga
Costa Mesa, Calif. - The Youngstown State men's tennis team dropped a 4-3 decision to Gonzaga on Wednesday morning at the tennis courts at Orange Coast College.

The Penguins (3-8) won the doubles point and were led by Remi Chancerel and Victor Pereira in singles as both had victories. The Bulldogs (7-3) won four singles matches to rally for the win.

In doubles play, the Guins earned the point with victories at No. 2 and No. 3. Chancerel and Silviu Mistreanu beat Nick Kamisar and Sergio Chip 6-3 at No. 2, while at No. 3, Hugo Morth and Bassem El Mekawi beat Joey Brandt and Alvaro Nazal 6-3.

Chancerel won his singles match as well beating Alvaro Nazal 6-4 and 6-1 while Pereira battled for a 6-4, 1-6, 7-6 (8-6) over Chip in the No. 5 spot.

At No. 2, Morth dropped a tough 7-6 (8-6), 7-6 (7-4) contest to Kamisar and at No. 6, Youssef Sherif lost 6-3, 7-6 to Vincente Varas.

YSU concludes it's California swing with a contest at UC Irvine on Thursday.
