Orosz Wins Three Events, Stafford Sweeps Diving Against Oakland
Viktoria Orosz won three events while Madison Aranda and Bec Stafford picked up a pair of wins as the Youngstown State swimming and diving program played host to Oakland at the Beeghly Natatorium on Saturday.
The Golden Grizzlies earned a 161-132 victory in the dual meet.
Orosz won the 200-yard freestyle, 200-yard backstroke and 200-yard IM. Stafford won both the one and three-meter dives for the second staight meet. Aranda took first in the 500-yard freestyle while finishing third in the 1,650-yard freestyle and fourth in the 200-yard butterfly.
Stafford won the one-meter with an NCAA Zone C qualifying score of 286.27. McKenzie Stelter was second with a 250.42 while Lydia Scheringer was third at 245.40. In the three-meter, Stafford posted a score of 268.20 to take first. Stelter was second with a 245.85 while Scheringer placed third with a 237.22.
YSU capped off the event with a thrilling 1:40.08 winning performance in the 200-yard freestyle relay. The Guins won the relay by 0.86 seconds.
In the 50-yard freestyle the Penguins finished second and third. Kolbrun Jonsdottir was second with a time of 25.34 seconds while Taylor Bishop was third at 25.63 seconds.
Zsani Csado came away with a second place finish in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:08.87. Haley Fisher also came away with a second place finish in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:16.61. Rachel Shipp was third in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 59.88 seconds.
The Penguins return to the pool on Oct. 22 when they visit Athens, Ohio to take on the Ohio Bobcats.
