Tampa, Fla. -- The Youngstown State softball team dropped a pair of games on day two of the USF Under Armour Showcase, falling to Fordham, 7-0 and Boston, 6-4, on Saturday.
In the opener against Fordham, the Penguins (1-6) tallied just three hits - singles by Miranda Castiglione, Samantha Snodgrass and Courtney Ewing - and were hurt by four errors.
The Penguins used a four-run second inning to take a 4-0 lead over Boston after two innings, but the Terriers scored one in the third, two in the fourth and three more in the fifth to come away with the 6-4 win.
Senior Caroline Krombach had a double and drove in two runs for the Penguins while Castiglione and junior Sarah Ingalls each had a hit and an RBI.
The Penguins face Saint Joseph's (Pa.), Sunday, at 9 a.m.
