Penguins Come In Second at Niagara Purple Eagles Invitational

The Penguins were tied with Detroit following the first round after both teams fired a 321. On Tuesday, the Titans were able to earn the team title with a 309 while the Guins shot a 315. Detroit posted a two-round 630 to win, while YSU was second with a 636. Saint Francis (Pa.) was third, Robert Morris was fifth and Niagara finished fifth.
Sarah Heimlich came up short in the battle for medalist honors. Heimlich tied Saint Francis (Pa.) golfer Ann Colligan at 153 for the two rounds. Heimlich and Allison Mitzel were tied for first one stroke ahead Colligan after the first round on Monday. Colligan forced a playoff with Heimlich and came away with the win on Tuesday.
Mitzel and fellow Penguin Emily Rohanna ended up tying for seventh place at 161. Rohanna had rounds of 81 and 80 while Mitzel carded an 84 on Tuesday following her opening round 77.
Angela Molasky placed 14th with a 164 (86-78), Kelly Fleming was 27th (181), Kayla Cerimele placed 30th and Elizabeth Schantz was 37th.
The Penguins are next in action at the Ohio State Invitational on April 20-21 in Columbus.
