Austin McLean Takes First at Tommy Evans Invitational

Akron, Ohio - Youngstown State senior Austin McLean took first place at the 47th annual Tommy Evans Invitational Thursday night as sophomore Alan Burns took third.
McLean posted a remarkable time of 20:01 and just missed the course record by one second. Burns finished with a time of 20:21.8 to improve his time from last year by 56 seconds. Senior Jon Hutnyan took 10th with a time of 20:45.

Junior Melissa Klim finished fourth for the Penguins with a time of 19:14 to lead the women's side.
Other finishers for the women included Jennifer Muhlenkamp who was 16th at 19:49.30, Morgan Ansell finished with a time of 19:54 to place 19th. McKinsie Klim placed 24th with a time of 20:09, Libby Rogenski clocked in right behind her with a time of 20:10 to place 25th, Suzanna Koziol posted a time of 20:47 to place 32nd, and Erin Pavick took 34th with a time of 20:56.
With three top-10 finishes from the men's side, that placed them to win over Kent State and Malone.

Other finishers for the men included Ethan Wilson to place 13th with a time of 20:56, and James Nedrich to finish with a time of 21:23 to take 22nd. Mike Navratil posted a time of 21:28 to come in 24th, Mike Dahmen finished 29th with a time of 21:47, and Derek Morrison ran a time of 21:53 to finish 31st.

The YSU Cross Country team is off until October 2nd, when they will compete in the All-Ohio Championships, which they haven't competed in since 2009.
