Women’s Basketball Individual and Team Camps Set for June
Youngstown State first-year head women's basketball coach John Barnes and his staff will host a team camp and an individual camp this June as part of the annual summer camp series on YSU's campus.
The staff will host a team camp on Saturday, June 1, that will be designed to help coaches and players develop winning programs and find new ways to stay on top of the game. Teams are guaranteed four games per day with certified high school officials, and every effort will be made to match teams with opponents of similar talent to ensure competitive games. There will also be instruction time built into the camp. Registration will be at 8 a.m., and competition will go from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Both varsity and junior varsity teams are invited to attend, and the cost for each team will be $200. All games will be played on YSU's campus, and the Penguins staff will be in attendance.
There will also be an individual camp held Monday, June 24 through Thursday, June 27, for players entering grades four through eight in Fall 2013. The focus of the camp will be to improve the all-around game as participants will work on all fundamentals with ball handling, passing, shooting, defensive and rebounding drills. There will also be individual and team competitions where awards will be given. Registration will be held on June 24 at 8:30 a.m., and the camp will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. all four days. Campers will be separated into groups based on age and skill level, and there will be a maximum of 10 campers per instructor. The cost for the entire camp is $85, which includes prizes and a t-shirt.
Campers can register online at penguinscamps.com. For more information or for specific questions, contact Director of Operations Courtney Davidson at (330) 397-5280 orcldavidson@ysu.edu.
