So, I assume you are predicting 5-6!

I have little confidence after that pathetic showing last Saturday. But it is time to put things into perspective. Let's look at Southern Illinois' schedule. In their OOC games, they crushed Austin Peay from that United Conference at home, and they barely eked out a one point win on the road against SE Missouri from the OVC. They also have a three point road win against Northern Illinois, one of the MAC bottom feeders.  Southern Illinois then opened league play with a solid home win over Missouri State.

So we have wins against two joke teams at home, a loss to the monster at Columbus, and the travesty at UNI (who is much better than Missouri State.) I really wonder if the results of these eight games suggest a vast difference between SIU and YSU. Switch the schedules and we might be the team that is 4-0. Of course SIU plays defense and we don't.

I am trying to be optimistic, I think YSU can win this weekend. There is a size difference between these teams, but now we need to actually run the ball alot and play some smash mouth football.

Just so we do not forget, this game is now a "Must Win" for YSU. UNI is not a good football team.

The UNI game was disappointing, and we could have won with better play calling and better play overall. But I felt their O and D lines were better than our D and O lines. And that gives them a big edge. And with time their QB made though throws and deep throws which happened too often with our pressure or lack thereof. We needed to get some wide runs with number 10 which did not happen enough.  Seems like we tried to get wide with short passes to the wide outs which were ok, but no big plays resulted. I feel 10 is our best back and not used enough. Hopefully that will change in the future.

Just watched some of the SIU vs Missouri State game. Seems like we match up better against SIU than NIU. Not as big and strong I think. Their QB throws well, but he is not as big or with as strong an arm as the UNI QB. Again if he gets time, we are in trouble. Hopefully we have number 1 back on D to help the pass coverage.

I think we have a good chance to win on Saturday. But I am just a fan who wants us to do well. I hope our coaching staff learns from these past games and does a good job.

YSU has had success against 2 competitive MVFC opponents and SIU is one of them.  The 2nd program is Illinois State.  With that being said with the exception of the Dakota schools the head coach at YSU should win this home game in year 4.  Period end of story.

Defense killing it. Offense leaving points off the scoreboard.

Just saying, I wasn't overly optimistic! It looks like UNI is as tough as normal

Me too.  at the time I posted they had some red zone turnovers.  Pick and a fumble .  Missed a field goal and some penalties that killed momentum.

Still oline was good and defense was as better than I can remember.

Offense was good, the defense was fantastic.

Maybe the secondary was fixable in 1 week!
