YSU is ranked 324 out 353 in both Massey and Sagarin computer ratings. That's horrible!

If your going to win Div. 1 games, you must create fouls. YSU rarely drives the basket to create opponent fouls. Every game our opponent get 2-3 times the foul shots as we do. This team is so discombobbled there is little chance of winning 6 games. Some of these players have talent, but it is being altered by the coaching.

I saw in the Vindicator that the Men's basketball team was stuck on a bridge in New York City for 8 hours due to the snow.  Too bad.  Energy will be difficult tonight.

It seems like we have better players and athletes compared to last year, but they are not in sync on both offense and defense.  I think we need to use the full court pressure only occasionally for this group to be able to keep the opposition from scoring so easily.  I know it is the coaches plan, but it hurts us badly when used too much. Maybe when the rotations are settled the players will be more coordinated. 

As I see it no video for the games in NYC.  Hope for a good showing.

I agree Penguin 68:

the full court pressure hurts us more than it helps. Duke uses the full-court pressure, but drops back to guard their man quickly. The YSU players are totally in disarray and totally lose their players and the opposing team gets an easy layup basket.

There is no hope, very sloppy and undisciplined

SHOULD BE A HIGH SCORING GAME. SUPPOSEDLY SIU HAS A POOR DEFENSE AND WE KNOW YSU HAS VIRTUALLY NO PASS DEFENSE.

I AGREE WITH CHIEF, IT LOOKS LIKE ANOTHER LOSS. EVEN IF WE WIN, WE HAVE NO CHANCE FOR A PLAYOFF SELECTION.

Just got my internet back. We're having quite a hurricane in North Carolina.

I remember that game well. It was wonderful! But very edgy during the last 4-5 minutes. I agree with Drew Gerber's comments; where we took the knee 3 times, but Tressel wanted to make sure there were no turnovers.
Yes, I was one of those berserk fans! Tressel did a wonderful job coaching his teams. He is one special gentleman.

Last year, we lost some very tight games, one in OT. Then we were blown out by Ill St. We will probably have some very tight games in 2018 and a turnover could change a win into a loss. We must improve greatly in the turnover margin. This is an extremely tough conference!!

We've reached out to Derek multiple times since he was drafted by the Patriots, most recently during the run-up to the Super Bowl. We have been told the Patriots declined to allow him to talk to us because he was injured and not on the active roster.

Ed: thanks for the explanation on Derek. The article on Derek showed his gracious and caring way to help a person he didn't even know.

As I sit in my office waiting for a 12:30 tee time, it occurs to me to ask this question:
Is it reasonable to expect, ask, or even demand the Youngstown Vindicator cover this story with at least as much attention as they did the Ray Issac story or the Malik Richmond story?  Hey Vindy (and Tribune) you have a GREAT story here.  MANY would enjoy reading something about a sports personality that isn't Tristian Thompson screwing a different 'ho while Khloe is in labor.

Hey local media:  Wake up! YSU is a very positive influence and a constructive contributor to the economy & social fabric of the Mahoning Valley.  YOU NEED TO CELEBRATE IT!

Great reply - bad news items are always placed in the news and newspapers. This is a special good deed done by a respected YSU sports star and no mention in any local newspapers. Why???

I know Derek Rivers is not looking for any attention, but people like to hear about the good done in is world. WAY TOO GO DEREK!!!

JMU has great defensive backfield coaching!!! Note their defensive backs watch the ball, not like YSU and many other teams who coach; keep your eyes on the pass receiver's back of the helmet. JMU had 6 interceptions and so far this season 31 interceptions, WOW that is incredible! I never heard of any team having 31 interceptions in one year.

NDSU has great team, but so does JMU. I believe JMU will out of FCS level football within a year or two.

Valpo and Butler = pitiful!!!!

These games will be scheduled in the beautiful fall weather and no one will be there!

Why can't we do better? This is a complete rip off for all of ours fans (year after year the same thing).
