YSU Penguin Athletics / Re: Kids who sent in their loi

Did you watch the defense at all last year. They played with 2 linebackers on the field more times than they had 3. So they will be fine
And they did that because they wanted to, or because they didn't have anybody that they had confidence in?  Watch some of the later games and playoffs and you will see they had Derek Rivers droping in coverage because they didn't have anybody else to play LB.
I'm not interested in being "fine".  I'm interested in being "great".  I'm interested in making plays behind the two biggest holes we've ever had at YSU with the DEs gone, and I don't see the playmakers on the field from 2016, simple as that. I hope you are right, but we'll see.

you define the word football stupid. you know most NFL teams play in 2 linebacker sets these days right? its the trend of football

my god your parents should be ashamed for raising someone so uneducated.

Good for Patrick. Watch out Brian Kelly, the next ND coach will be Bo in 3-4 years.

They would never hire him.

They hired Brian Kelly.

Durkin is also playing some LB and he didn't come here with limited years to sit on the bench.

Pelini's kid offered a walk on scholarship to Norte Dame, yes the real Norte Dame, not the pretend one by Cleveland.

But i thought he was only offered D1AA scholarships because of dad? shows how little some people know how football works.

I'll leave this here.  IMO there's a 60/40 likelihood that Tressel runs for Governor in 2018, and Kasich will return the favor and endorse him.  It'll be an interesting race as other locals (Timmy Ryan, Jay Williams) may also run, as well as former Cincy mayor Jerry Springer.  But running as a Dem?....the columnist is delusional.

http://www.cincinnati.com/story/news/local/2017/01/10/democrats-should-draft-jim-tressel-run-governor/96384816/
One delusional post after another from you here. First its almost 100% unlikely he's ever going to run, let alone run next year. Second, you know he's donated more to democratic causes than republican right?

Third, he'll be, i believe 66 by the time next years election comes up, with ZERO government experiance

he would be laughed off the face of the earth at applying to be elected

1. Tressel is a Republican. He endorsed Kasich, but has donated to GOP candidates in past:
http://www.wsj.com/articles/SB10001424052970204731804574386952311239532 and this bizarre article: http://www.indystar.com/story/news/local/2017/01/10/democrats-should-draft-jim-tressel-run-governor/96384816/

2. They said that about Trump too.... but now he is Making America Great Again!

Lastly, I don't see Tressel running. It will be DeWine, Taylor, Husted vs Schiavoni, Turner, Williams?

OH man, he helped  a freind get a job, that really defines what party he likes! or you know, his monetary contributions and his voting (also more pro dem then pub)

and no they didn't, but hey, try again right? in fact i remember just about everyone saying Trump would get it over the clown show the republicans ran out this year. making american great again, lol, my thats just too funny. we're guarenteed to be worse off in 4 years then the past 400.

After winning four National Championships, funding the WATTS, bringing in Bo Pelini, he reverses the declining enrollment numbers with high caliber students, and doubles funding for the YSU Foundation.

http://www.vindy.com/news/2015/aug/19/retention-key-tressel-says-state-university/

When will President Tressel leave YSU to run for statewide or Federal office? (not a joke)

Never since he wouldn't be elected and would get flat out destroyed in any election.

Eleven is an unworkable number.  This must mean that by 2020, either one more team will be added or the conference officials know that one team is leaving.  For us, the addition of yet another far flung opponent does not matter, since we must fly to every current opponent anyway except for Indiana State.

Minus that it worked in the Big Ten for almost 20 years, along with other FCS conferences, sure.

Gotta use facts to post here

Bo's son Patrick who just finished his senior year at Cardinal Mooney has been offered a football scholly by the enemy, NDSU.... Thoughts ? Haha.

https://twitter.com/ppelini/status/820478656011268096
Good for Patrick..Was also offered by Illinois St..What are we waiting on ?

Why would we offer him? If he wants to play at YSU would he not go for free since his dad is employed by YSU?

If he does not want to play at YSU I would be shocked if he went to a school on our schedule.

you have to be on scholarship to play in games.

Interesting, I wonder why

Because then you could field a football team of 110+ kids and see them compete vs teams who can only get 50+ kids.  Gotta enforce the 63 scholarship rule some how.

There is an entire FCS conference that is nonscholly, and some that are partial scholly.

If I understand it correctly, Patrick would automatically have a de facto "scholly" as his father is employed a YSU, but would have to pay student fees.  It wouldn't make sense to offer him a scholly...until after the 2018 season.  :D

Nope has to be an athletic scholarship. The rules obviously apply for those conferences with schools who cant hand out athletic scholarships, but thats not YSU, or ISU or NDSU's case.

He has to be on athletic scholarship to play at YSU, Period.

Pelini's kid is a D-2 player.  If Bo wasn't his dad and made calls to ND St coaches and Illinois State coaches, they would have no clue who he is.

Do you really think either of those schools would recruit him if it weren't for his dad?  Ask the Mooney coaches, Patrick is a nice player, but D-2 at best.

This is just a f*cking stupid take at its finest.
no school is going to waste a scholarship just because a random coach call them
you are a true moron.

Biggest game of the year and Monty and Wells were out schemed and out coached again.

You are so full of crap. Can you not lose like a man?!

Why are you so obsessed with Monty?  We need fresh blood, time to move on from him.  If he was so good he would have been offered a better position a long time ago.

I enjoy winning. Oh and what makes you so certain that he has not been made a better offer? In fact, multiple better offers. Why do people like you hate anyone not named Tressel or Pelini? Both JMU and YSU overachieved this year. Do you not think that there are about 10+ teams that could beat either one of us? NDSU is scratching their heads.

Winning isn't because of Montgomery. and no he has not, in fact had any other offers, that comes from a player who just graduated sitting in the room with myself. why do you have such a hard on for a guy who's the worst coach we've ever had? You always make up lies, then cry like a b**** when you are proven wrong.

I am not the one crying like a B right now. Best season in some time and we have many weaknesses to address. Your OC is not one of those.

Wrong, someone said Montgomery sucks, so your running to his aide to cry like a b****

this forum is better off without people like you.
I know plenty of former players who want him fired as well.
