"great comments. We have a huge three-game stretch. Not to mention that SIU & SDSU had huge wins yesterday. It is unlikely that we can go unblemished in 2012 (especially after yesterday). However, of these next three games (all top-10 teams) ...this is the only home game & best chance at a win. "

I see nobody wants to touch this question with a 10 foot pole

how much better was  the D supposed to play in the 2nd half yesterday? the QB was 9/21, the offense scored 0 Points (ST got 3) and all year long the D has allowed a grand total of TEN Points in the second half, theres no coach in the history of football at any level that would turn that preformance down.

UNI is very good.  They scored 38 points combined in those games vs. big 10.  Should have beat Wisconsin.   They have our number and will be ready to play us.  Our defense will need a much better performance especially when it comes to the pass.  Looks like UNI is doing more passing than running so look for them to try to burn our secondary.  YSU needs a few things to go our way:

1.  Huge crowd with at least 20k in the stands all standing and screaming all game.  The crowd needs to be the loudest it has ever been.  The media and Ath. dept needs to hype this game starting Today.

2. Offensive balance and no stupid play calling.  Keep your assignment and stick to the plan. Control the clock to keep the ball out of UNI's hands and away from picking apart our secondary.

3. Pressure on the QB to help out  the DB's.  We need  to blitz more.

4. Special teams need to be solid and do not allow big returns.

Go Guins and beat UNI!
only thing i disagree with is Who cares if they scored 38? thats 19 PPG vs a god awful Wisky team who's what 10 points away from being 0-3?

Okay let's settle down KSU15 ...you take everything too seriously. Power has been on the board for a long time & I trust his opinions ...as does everyone else. You should read what he says & ask him for more details. Your enthusiasm and support for the team is great; keep it up but maybe tone it down. Against UA, we witnessed the same defense that we have had for 3-years now ...so people are upset. Just like the comment on our stadium ...let it go. The visitors side is like a 3k HS stadium ...that where their fans sat, so that is their perspective and it is all we need. We have a stadium that has max capacity around 23k, 4-stories, 26-loges, night-club/restaurant, best pres box in all D1. It is as good as OSU, but sitting in the visitors-side, they saw our radio-shack. It is all perspective. Listen to he announcers during the JMU play-off game ...they could not believe our facilities ...they were taken care of by some fine-looking Ytown ladies & great food. For God's sake, we have an indoor facility like no other in I-AA/FCS ...with a regulation field. Next time people make those type of comments take them for a walk & be proud. While you are on the home side, let them see what championship trophies look like. They can build the best stadium in the nation, but to earn those trophies, you have to build the best team in the nation ...which is a standard for many of us, and why we are so upset. This board is where we vent.

Power, don't let him get to you & attack him. We all know what you said, in fact, I commented right away during the game.

No im not going to deal with Personal attacks over my opinion therefore im not going to settle down, i couldnt care less how long he's been here, in the end he's still wrong. This is not the Same Defense as last year, have you watched any games at all? we have allowed 10 Total second half points this year, TEN. How in the Hell is that even close to being anything like the last 3 years? what do you expect them to shut out every body every game?  This fan base on the board is pathetic, and people wonder why no one goes to games. Fans on this board will never be happy unless the score is 1 Million - 0 and we rush for 100 Gazillion yards per game.

You are a retard.  I have never seen a person spin a terrible performance  like you do.  You should run for a political  office and blow smoke up someone elses ass because you are not going to do it to me.  I warned you last week about the concernd on the secondary and unfortunately my concerns were realized  you should admit it.  I should have known that someone that has Kant state in their username has absolutely no credibility when it comes to football IQ or maybe its the liberal arts training you received there that helps you rationalize reality.

LOL you know absolutley nothing about football, trust me. nothing. but keep trolling

but what an OUTSTANDING 2nd half the QB had, whoo i sure wish our QB could go 9/21 with 0 TDs ! Give him the Heisman NOAW!

If we don't get the DB play fixed we will be blown out next weekend.  Don't give the BS that we are playing the run.  The DB's played like HS.

Blownout LOL right
hows UNI going to stop us? they are averaging giving up close to 400 yards a game between Iowa and Wisconsin, who may not even finish .500
Look, the last thing I want to do on this board is argue with a fellow penguin fan, so tell me? Do you REALLY think there is NO problem with the defensive backfield?  You say the safety was playing hurt? Has he been playing hurt all season? Are we that thin in the backfield that we have to play someone who's hurt? Constantly out of position.  I hope to God he's better by next saturday. I look forward to a win, and if he plays a decent game , you'll get my apology.

way to avoid the question, hows UNI going to stop us? they have given up over 800 Yards of offense between Iowa and Wisconsin.  you forget to mention UNI has to get stops to win the game. there is no problem with the defensive backfield  Did you miss the 2nd half when the D stepped up and the QB was only 9/21 and they only got 3 points? did you expect 0-21?
Sorry! Didn't mean to avoid the question. heat of the moment and all. I don't think uni CAN stop us. We'll only stop ourselves . My concern as you already know, Is our pass defense....

the Pass D only allowed about 45% completion 0 TDs in the 2nd half, not sure how much better you expect that to get from a offense that was good enough to get in the playoffs

i feel bad for the kids on the team, we have some real asshat fans who expect the other team to score 0 points get -1 trillion yards and turnthe ball over 94 times per game and when they dont meet the incredibly unrealistic expectations that not even the 1985 Bears could meet they get thrown under the bus

Boy from the sound of this board you would think we lost 59-0.  We have some of the worst most unrealistic fans on this board by far. the D isnt going to play perfect every week, especially vs a team who made the playoffs last year.

-the 2nd Half D was very very good outside of the garbage time FG, Shutout Albany

-the Offense was very good in the second half, but terrible game planning hurt our chances to win, the game should not have been as close as the score shows, you cant keep running the ball when they are shutting it down, Cook went from 110 3 TD first half yards to 51 0 TDs second half in almost the same amount of carries (18 in first half, 15 in second half), 52 Rushing attempts to 22 Passing attempts is why we only scored 10 points in the 2nd half after scoring 21 in the first half

-there were 2 plays in this game that could have changed the game around big time
-Shaws Fumble at the 32, the way our offense moved the ball in the first half, we probably have 28 or at the very least 24 points by halftime insted of 21 and Albany might not have the momentum to score a TD so we could have been looking at a 28-14 Ball game at half
-the blocked punt, we probably just run down the clock or at least try to after the punt, but if we dont block that punt we could have seen OT and maybe lost, or only won by 3.

-YSU dominated this game in the 2nd half on D, and in the 1st half on Offense

-I really think YSU looked ahead to UNI, Confrence game, a team we dont history play very well, which could be why the D played so bad in the 1st half, then dominated the 2nd half. QBs just dont go from 14/15 to 9/21 in a 15-20 minute span (Halftime)

-I really dont care how bad people want us to be Tressels power running-defensive teams, as long as this staff is in place it will NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER come back. Understood? stop crying about the way we play, with the staff in place its never going to change, get over it, deal with it and move on. its 2012 not 1950

-Now looking ahead to UNI, They are not the UNI of years past, they are struggling on D giving up over 800 Yards to Iowa and Wisconsin, who are both very bad teams (yes both are 2-1 but Wisky could very well be 0-3 right now and Iowa. They dont score alot but they dont give up alot either, i really couldnt care less what they did to DII Central State, thats worse then Valpo. UNI needs this game in the worse way, if they dont beat us, they need to win out to make the playoffs, so they will be ready and have their A+ game

-UNI really struggled to run the ball on Wisky, only 34 rushing yards by their RBs and only 94 Yards vs Iowa they also struggle to stop the run giving up 362 Rushing yards combined vs Iowa and Wisky, so the game plan should be clear, Run, Pass about 6-8 more times to open up the run and keep 7 out of the box like Albany started to play in the 2nd half, and stop the pass

Well,  This was my concern with the "Defense" thread.....and it happened.  We are better athletically but we still do not know how to play the safety position.  Kentstateguin, this one is for you.  TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE play by the S.  #8 has to go.

you do know A'lesio was playing Hurt right? oh wait no you didnt because you have got to be one of the most clueless posters ive ever seen. Sounds more like to me YOU have to go untill you learn the game of football

LOL god this message board really brings out some of the most clueless people ive ever seen

The panthers are gonna be lickin their chops after they see the film of this game! The only reason they lost to Iowa was they were lookin ahead to YSU  ;D I see too many similarities between this  defensive backfield, and the ones of the last couple of years. Any half decent QB can pick it apart. And before you mention it? No! Pitt doesn't have one. Seriously, Albany is a better team than many gave them credit for. It really pains me to say it, but they beat them selves more than the pens did.

i smell a troll attempt from a Albany fan. or UNI, either way 100% guarentee this guys not a YSU fan
I bleed red  just like most other ysu fans. I just don't wear rose colored glasses to every game! Just what proof do you need to convince you that I am a YSU fan?  Blind obedience to your posts won't do it. and by the way, you spelled guarantee wrong

then im not sure what UNI will be licking their chops for, they are 1-2, They dont look very good, they've lost to 2 very bad teams already i mean not only did UNI almot beat Wisconsin but Utah St took them to the wire and Oregon St who was very bad last year DID beat them. YSU is probably 3-0 with UNI schedule.

If anything YSU should be licking their chops vs UNI, Who has given up 817 Yards combined vs Iowa and Wisconsin

Sorry to come across as a sore winner clack, and I love your team...it is just that we have to face UNI (lost to 2 ranked FBS teams by a total of 8 points), NDSU (3-0 & defending national champs), and Illinois State (3-0) & ranked in the top-10 over the next 3-weeks. After what you saw today ...what do you think are our chances of winning any of those? This is YSU ...we win games 1-0 ...not 100-99.

No worries...I think you'll do OK the rest of the way. You are ranked where you are for a reason, your offensive line, tailback and QB are incredible...you can hang with anyone in FCS although you guys do have a brutal stretch coming up. Again, best of luck.

Thanks CC. Don't be riled over KentStGuin15. After all you do not know the area, but Akron is our traditional #1 rival, and Kent State is a close second; both schools are within 30-minutes from here. So, what kind of YSU fan would advertise for our #2 rival in his board name? As to the Danes. Your coach said what he was going to do, he coached your team well, and they backed his words up. That is something to be proud of. Both programs are looking to move-up. Albany is looking to become competitive in a great conference, as is YSU. Albany took a step forward today ..YSU did not.

We had many problems. I am just not a fan of the style of defense that we play. We lacked the power to pressure your QB. We continually miss first-opportunities on tackles, the Danes inability to stop our speed helps us with the second - opportunity ...but today it was too late as first-downs were already made. I do not have the stats yet, but I bet you doubled our yards on first-down. You just could not keep up with our outside run-game. Then your coach made a smart move and dedicated a man to cover our #4 Andre Stubbs ...he became a non-issue after that. Very, very smart. You certainly had the better head-coach and defensive coordinator today. If there is one negative on your end ...you tackle high & little too much grabbing at the head and neck. It could have been adrenaline.

Again, sorry I could not make it to the game in person ...I am going to be a grandfather tonight or tomorrow and even though I love my YSU Penguins ...I love my own Penguins a little more :)  First home game I have missed since the birth of my own daughter in 1988.

yeah sure sucks to win ball games and give up 3 points a half untill Garbage time when the games well out of hand, but keep pretending to be a YSU Fan

are like a-holes

Kind of like visiting fans who only see things 1 sided
YSU lead the entire game, out gained Albany as well, you're pretty biased if you think the game wouldnt have been a 2 or 3 TD game if one of, if not the best QB in D-1AA would have passed a few more times. One could even go as far as saying YSU was over-Looking Albany for next weeks game vs UNI in the 1st half on D

you're QB went 14/15 2 TD in the first half, 9 for 20 0 TD in the 2nd half, Our RB had 110 Yards in the 1st half, 51 in the 2nd when you're D started loading up the box

i dont think those stats could make it any more clear YSU D over-looked Albany in the 1st half, and the Offense had bad play calling in the 2nd half

in the end, Albany lost, and never even for 1 second lead for the game, but gotta love the ******** sore loser fans come running their mouth

Did you miss the first drive of the game? I'll wait...

did you miss the rest of the game? I'll wait

Albany was dominated in every way today, but keep being a sore loser if it makes you feel better
typical NY asshat
What game were YOU watching? :-\

the same one as everyone else Albany fan, YSU dominated from kick-off
