YSU Penguin Athletics / Re: Memory Lane: 2006 James Madison Play-off Game
« on: December 14, 2011, 02:23:38 PM »
Remember that game well. It was a Friday game. I asked for the whole day of work  because I thought it was going to be an afternoon game, and we ended up playing a night game(and no I didn't change it). What a fun game.

If u all think about we can go on and on about our playoff games at Stambaugh. My favorite would always be the Alcorn State-YSU game in 94'. I was at the game Lucky recorded it. The announcer that game was Tom Meiss. I remember him saying during the broadcast "These boys in Youngstown play some good football". Then again that team was just awesome

Guinpen-I got married on Sept 22, 2007. YSU played Lock Haven. No I didn't look at the schedule before selecting the date. And so far it has worked out great. We have a 9.5mth old. And on our 5th anniversary we will play UNI. I may just go to that game.

And yes that was the craziest comeback ever. Weather wise that was worst game all year, but the comeback kind of warmed us all up.

I am really glad the ladies are playing well. I was really excited when they hired Coach Boldon. He just struck me as having the quality and commitment to get our program back on track

Scuba-I too was a student at YSU, and I remember that whole entire season. I don't think I missed a home game that year. I think the only home game I missed in my years at YSU was the 2000 WIU game because I went to a wedding(and then I got married in 2007 on the weekend of a YSU home game)

YSU Penguin Athletics / Trip down memory lane

Do you all realize that 12 yrs ago today. Many of witness what had to be the greatest game ever played at Stambaugh Stadium. The weather was freezing, and we were losing pretty bad to Florida A&M. Somehow we managed to win. There was an interception in the red zone that gave us the spark to come back. What a great game!!!! Do you know what I remember most about that game. I had a punching bag the whole 4th quarter. It wasn't Dad. Let's just say punching bag married me(I know. What was he thinking).

BigRed-Love that pic.  ;D

Seems like we YSU fans never miss a good tailgate party whether it be at home or on the road. I actually didn't go to the game on Sat. I watched it from the confines of the Igloo(that would be PapaGuins' house). I gave my 8mth old a taste of YSU football. He slept through most of the second quarter.

YSU Penguin Athletics / Re: Attendance this year for YSU football?
« on: October 31, 2011, 12:24:24 PM »
Oh let me think the reasons for low attendance: Um we have been a contender since 06', fair weather fans(even though it did clear up rather nice Saturday), and why do we have only on night home game on the schedule. We need to bring back night games(last time I checked there are lights at the stadium). And students should be at a every home game, their tickets are FREE. Even if they aren't going they can always let someone borrow it. Heck the years I was at YSU I don't think my husband ever paid for a ticket while we were dating.

Now I haven't been to very many home games the last 6 seasons , but I try to make it to atleast one home game a year. Even when I don't go to the games. I get a game recap, or I stream the game. And yes we have also sat around the same people for the last 12-15years. We have actually become great friends with them.

Pizza-Yes, it is the students responsibility to study, go to class, and keep their grades up.

Nova75-The last year I was FT student at YSU athletes were allowed to work on campus. Same as work study

Maybe they think it will cut down on the illegal action of boosters fb.

I of course got through college the hard way: grant, loans, and working.

If a kid quits and never finishes common sense would say it counts against u. I believe if you transfer. The transfer goes against the original school, but counts for the other school. Also sometimes a former athlete eventually finishes way after the playing days are over. Those however aren't factor in.

Then again I have room to talk. It took me 8 yrs to finish my undergrad.

YSU Penguin Athletics / Re: Post Game after thumping the Red Flash!

Really enjoyed the game. Would have loved it more if we punched that last TD in. Disappointed in the crowd. It wasn't that bad weather wise. Perfect weather for a fall football game.

Honestly I thought he would keep the starters in for at least one series. And #25 reminded me as another #25. Special teams are still a weakness.

The GuinFamily is doing awesome. BrotherGuin is in Harrisburg, and is doing great. Of course the GuinFamily grew by one in the offseason. I have an 8mth old little boy. I just today bought him his first YSU shirt.

Looking forward to seeing the Guins play tomorrow. No BabyGuin will not be attending, he will be with HubbyGuin all day.

What happened to JD? He is such a nice guy.  I used to see him on campus, and he always had a smile on his face.
