Interesting radio show, "Ricky and Roth", on Rookery radio at 8 am on Wednesdays.  Nice, although guarded, insight from YSU players.

I love their show. Very cool.  :)

Davis has to pass. Can't just run. To predictable
I agree. Davis runs the plays that Monty calls. Monty needs to let him throw.

First if all Mayor ...I like Davis. He had no choice but to transfer. Beside it was HS ...who cares or follows it? I am well aware of the fact that he is a pro-style QB; even if I wasn't, I would know that Montgomery does not want an option guy and would not recruit one unless he had passing skills.

PS: I, along with everyone else saw (and welcomed) Davis as the successor to Hess.
Yeah I apologize. I am very frustrated with some things that are going on that i can't talk about on here. He loves his team and teammates. That's all that really matters. Go Guins!!

Was watching a St Ed vs Moller game last night on tape. Got me to thinking have we ever gotten a St Ed, St Iggy or Moller player in the past at YSU?? I can not remember a one?

GOOOOOOOOO  GUINS!!!
You have one now, #12 Ricky Davis. The knock on him at Moeller was he was a pro style QB and the knock on him now is he is a running QB. Watch his entire video and you tell me what you think he is. Remember, these teams he is playing against were some of the best in the country (Colerain, Elder, St. X, St Ed's and @ Louisville Trinity who was #1 in the country when this tape was taken). Enjoy

He did not really play ay Moeller. He transferred to Bishop Fenwick.

As you can tell from the tape, he did really play and they really blocked and tackled also smart a$$. I guess he didn't damage his middle finger for the rest of his life last Saturday playing for YSU and it's not really deformed because, hey, he wasn't "really the guy" was he?

Just curious what was the reason he transfered to Fenwick if he could do both?
He had 4 D1 offers at the end of his Junior year (Bowling Green, Akron, Kent State, UMass) without ever starting a Varsity game. Illinois, Toledo, Tennessee, Western Kentucky and Youngstown State was interested but wanted to see him lead a team as the starter before they would offer. The starter @ Moeller never received 1 offer to play college football. Relationships can play a big role in whether a player gets an opportunity or not. If a coach has a “guy” it will take a lot to unseat him.

Go Guins! Must win this week.

I just want to honestly know why everyone is so high on Ricky Davis? I'm not saying he would be a bad QB, but honestly, why is he the answer to our problems? Because he's mobile?
Yo- Qb's on just about every level today are judged on 2 things win and losses. If you don't win that creates controversy and gossip. IMO Wells played good enough in the losses to Pitt and Illinois St. to pick up the win. The defense didn't, and that also goes for the players around Wells. That is why it's a team sport and you win and lose as a team. In the game of football you need to throw. If Ricky could throw he would've been giving the opportunity a long time ago. Hunter is just a sophomore and a team captain..That speaks volumes

I wouldn't blame either loss completely on the defense. If you take away the KO return for a TD against Pitt and a pick 6 this week, we could have won both games. Our Defense is better than anybody could have hoped for this year, anyway, Ricky can throw and he is a sophomore also. Go Guins! (All the Quins)

I don't think that people are high on Ricky Davis or that he is the answer to our problems, the question was just just ask why not give him a try even if it's to put a fire under Hunter. No one knows what he can do because he has never been given a chance.

The QB you warned about almost beat one of the best teams in the country.  We have nothing behind him right now and if you think Ricky Davis is the answer then you know less than you think.  I am not being a homer but don't you think Pelini isn't going to put the best guy out there.  He has a few more rings than u and being an armchair naysayer hater makes  any assessment from you pretty much garbage.  But keep being negative. Youngstown is full of your kind and you fit in very well.  Go Penguins!

The QB he warned about would have beaten one of the best teams in the country had he not thrown the pick 6 or could run 3 yards from the line of scrimmage, but let me ask you something, how do you know Davis can't play when he has never been given a chance to fail? And by the way, Pelini isn't putting the QB out there, Monty is.

Pretty sure that Monty works for BP

Yeah he does but Bo is a defensive minded coach and is trying to show Monty the respect he deserves by letting him run the offense his way. You will know when Bo has had enough. I just hope Monty staying with Hunter doesn't cost him his job. He is a good coach.

Don't understand the Wells comment.  Yea the pick 6 was bad but we were 50% on third downs and almost pulled out the comeback.  He isn't the reason we lost.  We didn't stop the run gave up over200 yds and we gave up a couple of big plays the fake punt was devasting.  As for the Monty stuff our time of possession was almost 35 mins and we scored what 20 pets in the second half against a excellent team.  I thought the game plan was very good to b**** about him for this game is without merit.

I know people like to give Hunter a free pass and nothing is ever his fault because he is a hometown boy, but if he could run at all he gets into the end-zone on the extra point. You say, well running is not his game, passing is, well, the Missouri Valley Stats don't lie...http://www.mvc.org/football/stats/ind-all.pdf, after yesterdays game he is listed in 10th place in Passing Efficiency @ 125.3. Spin that.

There are no easy games in the MVFC. I'm hoping Bo Pelini won't let the team take any team lightly, even Robert Morris or Saint Francis.
You look like a prophet now, YO!

I hope that continues, because I still say this team is talented enough to go 8-4 and make playoffs.

The problem is we only play 11 games this year. Are we going to go 8-3 or 7-4 and if so, do we still make the playoffs at 7-4?

go guins ...I have to give the TD pass of the night to Davis during the spring game.. I thought it was a pick & the next thing I see that Harvin holds it up. I have always liked Garry as well. I have to like our QB situation & couple bigger good hands guys wearing Penguin Jersey's this year.

I agree with you on the best pass of the night goes to Davis, but probably not the one you are talking about. The first drive with the 2's, Davis threw a beautiful ball 40 yards to the back of the end zone that was dropped by the receiver that would have been a touchdown. That was a beautiful pass! :)

James Wilson
Zak Kennedy
Gavin Wiggins
Malik Leonard
Ryan Emans
Curtis Parks
Darius Shackleford
Lamont Ragland
Adam Wollet
Avery Larken
Armand Dellovade
DeAangelo Malone

Did I miss any? How many do we have remaining to recruit?

Good list and great question. This is more than we lost; so I wonder who is not returning? Spring roster will will be interesting. It is closer than you think!!

Didn't QB Nathan Mays commit?
