After watching some of March Madness and how our team brought out the crowds and sparked interest.  I feel the university will get more bang for the buck by investing into Basketball
1. First of all we are in a conference with some natural rivals
Cleveland St and Wright.
2.  If we can get to the dance.
We are on every bracket and on a national Stage
The economics of it make sense.  Our level of football nobody gives a crap.  Plus we are in a conference that we have no reason to be in other than the same BS it’s the SEC of football.
Ask Furman, ask Fairleigh Dickerson Chicago St and past schools like Butler if a conference mattered etc.

You get way more media and exposure than an FCS championship.  I asked people down here Do you know who won’t be FCS football championship this year?  They went what’s that?

I love our football but I don’t see us being a consistent winner or a major player in our conference we will always be just one of the other Schools plus the Dakotas.  Look at the SEC it’s Bama, Georgia, and sometimes LSU.

Again I would probably change my mind if we went to another conference or moved up.

Looks like more money from a tv contract will possibly be funneled to fix the regional seeding mess I think that is what the jist of Article states.

Whatever the crowd was it was a good look for Youngstown St Basketball and to the area.  Calhoun has achieved so much with so little money.  He obviously can find players for his offensive scheme. We were a jump shooting 3 point team.  With a bench that wasn’t deep.  We couldn’t rebound and defend and that showed up during the last few weeks when it mattered.  As much as Coach has evolved our program I hope he looks at himself to improve on our weaknesses and get better at coaching game situations better.  But Hats off !!! Job well done!

This team was never the same after the overtime game a few weeks ago.  But if you don’t rebound you have no chance, Calhoun needs to review his game day bench  tactics.  He needed to coach this team early.  Should have anticipated NKU being agreesive early and with their experience being there.  Instead he just sat there

NKU  playing a match up zone but they put #3 on top causing problems with our shooters.  It’s like we never expected it.  Very poor prep.

Disappointing.  Calhoun  needed to step up and actually coach tonight.  They look like they are bored. This didn’t Gannon.  It’s obvious that the Norse want it more and took that last loss personal.  Hats off to the Norse Coach.  He knew to attack us inside and crash the boards.  We seemed to run out of gas a couple of weeks ago and playing on fumes since.

Shame they had history in their hands.  I felt Coach needed to lite a fire and address the lack of an extra pass and  play to get guys open and some help defense or D In general.  They played like the gamblers had made them throw the game.  Just a flat performance at the wrong time of season.  I said this before we look tired and it shows.

Can’t win them all.  Sometimes I feel coach needs to coach more on fly and make adjustments.  But still think he’s a keeper winning 20 games is a big accomplishment with all the negatives this program had.

The Horizon league has lust its luster since the Butler run.  15th seed is what this conference is probably at.  Still games to play let’s take it a game at a time

The plan is to get D1 FCS players on our roster.  The lineman have to meet a height requirement now.  Just like what Wolford recruited. I see us getting deeper here.

A big win in prime time on national stage.  This team can make some noise. Reminds me of the Mike Rice team talent Wise.  I hope we can keep our coach for a longtime our program needs that. But after this win I’m sure if the team keeps doing well the schools will be knocking on his door.

Did some research on the QB recruit.  He played for a D6 school till he transferred to Springfield for his Senior year was a Co player of the year in D6.  After his junior year had no D1 offers.  That’s why he transferred.  He is coming as a preferred walk on. It looks like his father is head coach from where he transferred.

Good for him. I’m sure it’s a great career move and probably tripled his salary!
