Title: YSU football d Coordinator leaving?

  Just heard from a good source that Joe Schaefer is leaving.   Coach Phillips was high on him and he came in with Phillips.

Does not mention another job so are these guys leaving by choice?

Joe Schaefer is no longer on the Penguins website and apparently has left the program.

He was one of the first hires for Phillips when he assumed the job.

Schaefer is the third assistant to leave YSU since the season ended."

From the little I have gathered, he sets very high expectations for his staff and they work their tails off.  I have also heard the same about Tressel.  The difference could be that work ethic today vs 30 years ago is much different.  Just my $.02  Don't know the reason, but I know how Phillips feels about recruiting. He is a hard charger and expects 10 hours a day of recruiting.  10 Hours!

  Schaefer taking entry level defensive assistant at Texas A&M.  Boardman native DJ Durkin recently named their defensive coordinator.

Sounds like a promotion as well as more money
