Title: The wolf man

In the first half the tv did a little talk about Eric W. being the O line coach for Kentucky. Seems he is doing well and he looked happy!

There is a reason why Wolford and Heacock are never considered for head coaching positions. The college coaching ranks would be filled with successful and happy people if men understood their limitations and stayed within them.

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – Former Youngstown State head football coach Eric Wolford is headed to Alabama.

According to national reports, Wolford has accepted the offensive line job with the Crimson Tide.

ESPN senior writer Chris Low says Wolford will replace Doug Marrone on the Alabama staff.

Once again its on the job training at YSU with the current HC.  If he doesnt find a way to get recruits here from the fertile southern state he too will fail.

At our level it is almost always going to be on the job training for the head coach, BP was the exception, and we all know how that played out.

Program had pretty much bottomed out and needs to be rebuilt from square one. One thing that our AD has not been very good at is getting that "guy" that would continue the success we had built up years ago. Time may prove me wrong, but I feel that DP is up to the task. We will see if he can bring in the players and the right coaches. Will need 1-2 more years to judge him.

I agree that not all assistant coaches are meant to be head coaches and we have had a couple of them. I hope that EW does a great job.

I am still in the opinion that if Wolf has hired a good defensive coordinator, he would have gotten us into the playoff. He could very well be a coordinator today in a I-A team, if not a power 5 team.
I am sure he is making more $$$ as a position coach at Bama than as HC at YSU. Best luck to him.

The university gave Wolford more money to hire assistants than they ever gave to Heacock.  Wolford just could not locate and hire the right defensive coordinator.  And he tried several times. That is a big reason why he was not a good head coach.

I agree as well. That Florida guy brought in a defense that was not compatible with our conference. Even when Wolf grabbed that local guy as OC, it was a huge improvement, but not good enough. By then Wolf had a good OC, deep o-line, with TB's, a great QB and over 38-points per game in offense. Yet we still lost. It just could not save Wolf. Especially when Bo called.
